Tewkesbury Park Hotel Review

Date:

Nestled in the heart of idyllic Tewkesbury is a Hotel that will simply take your breath away – Tewkesbury Park.

Surrounded by 163 acres of Gloucestershire parkland and a whole world away from the hustle and bustle of City life, Tewkesbury Park Hotel is an ideal picturesque break. The Hotel has recently undergone a renovation and the hard work put forth by the new family owners is evident in every aspect.

The exterior is white and simple and does little to reveal just what lies behind the doors. The Entrance is simplistic and contemporary with splashes of bright colour and leads to a chic bar and casual dining area to the right and a beautiful corridor and stairway right ahead which takes you to the bedrooms. During our stay we were in one of their opulence suites. There are six of these in the Hotel and all have beautiful bay windows with views of the golf course and countryside, double ended baths, sumptuous furnishings and a whole array of thoughtful touches.

From the wonderfully soft beds, to the breathtaking rose-gold tin bath pride of place by the bay windows, this was the most perfect sanctuary for a healthy dose of R&R. Fresh fruit was placed in the room and contemporary styling was splashed throughout, from chic vases and ornaments to the tasteful decor.

The hotel is home to a range of leisure facilities- famed for its golf course with tumbling views, and there is also a spa, fully-equipped gym and dance studio. The spa partners with the Natural Spa Factory of Bath, offering a range of naturally-inspired, chemical-free bespoke treatments. From manicures to facials to an indulgent 70 minute seasonal body recharge there is something for everyone (and you won’t be disappointed!)

There is also an indoor pool, sauna and a new outdoor hottub which are perfect for spending the day relaxing in.

Dining at Tewkesbury Park is an experience in itself. There are a couple of dining options to choose from, depending on your mood. From the relaxed and informal leisure or hotel bar for daytime snacks and afternoon teas to the light and airy Garden Restaurant with breathtaking views there really is something for everyone.

And no matter where you dine, emphasis is placed on serving delicious home-cooked and locally sourced dishes. The family-run feel continues deep into the veins of the Hotel and the dining is no different. You feel taken care of, welcome and right at home.

Tewkesbury Park Dining

During our stay we ate in  the Garden Restaurant where they serve a mouth watering a la carte menu all year round (and a delicious full-english the morning after.) Mains include a range of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes from Potted Ham Hock Confit with Crackling to Whipped Goats Cheese Mousse – each dish as delicious as the last.
Mains again, are varied. If you’re a seafood fan their Market Fish of the day is a must (it’s freshly landed by the Brixham boats and you can really relish in the freshness) for meat lovers the Gloucester Old Spot Pork Three Ways has to be on your menu and for any vegetarians, their Crispy Herb Polenta and Whipped Cotswold Cerney Ash Goats Cheese is a real no-brainer. Prices are reasonable and the view unforgettable. As you sit, fine food in front of you, a delicious tipple in one hand and the view of the sun setting over the Gloucstershire countryside, it is hard to pitcure anywhere more perfect. Whether as a guest of the Hotel or as a date-night restaurant venture, this restaurant is really not one to miss out on. It’s a truly unique dining experience.

Tewksbury Park is a Hotel unlike any other we’ve visited. Every single inch of the Hotel is perfect. The decor classy, tasteful and beautiful, the rooms a welcoming haven from the outside world and the staff some of the best we’ve ever experienced. The refurb has just finished mid-2016 and we can’t wait to head back and see just what wonders have been done to the place to make it even better.
