Brockencote Hall, a beautiful countryside oasis

If you are to head into Worcester, down a few windy roads and tracks and into a countryside clearing, you would come across a beautiful Victorian Manor House, tumbling parkland and a stunning water fountain.

This Manor House is known as Brockencote Hall, a hotel ready and waiting to whisk you off your feet and into its throes of rest and relaxation.
Home to just 21 bedrooms, the personal touch is evident in each nook and cranny- from the welcoming reception team to the unique pictures on all the walls to chocolates in the bedroom.

 The Room

We stayed in one of their feature suite and it was beautiful. With a large (and supremely comfortable) double bed, tumbling views over the Malvern Hills and a beautiful fireplace it’s a homely hub to spend a relaxing night. A soft sofa, chairs and table and an additional vanity table means there’s plenty of space to relax and unwind and take in the sights through the large windows.
The bathroom was large, host to both a bath and separate shower, with ESPA toiletries included.

Dinner

Dinner is an exciting affair at Brockencote Hall, with new Head Chef Tim Jenkins heading up the dishes.  We began the evening with a pre-dinner cocktail in their lounge- a relaxing and charming room to unwind before dinner, before being led to the main dining area.

The Hotel’s Chaddesley Restaurant holds 3 AA Rosettes and boasts exceptional cuisine, elegant decor and a the perfect relaxed vibe you need for your break away. It is immensely popular with locals and guests alike, paying homage to just how beautiful and well worth a visit it really is. Sweeping rural views stretch as far as the eye can see and as darkness falls and the gentle wall lighting oozes off gentle puddles of light it’s hard to imagine eating anywhere else.

Tim Jenkins is dedicated to creating fresh, seasonal, innovative dishes and this passion for food really shines through in each and every dish. Starters range from Crab with apple, grapes, Kombo seawees and verjus to Pan-fried scallops, to Sweetbread and snail – a combination of Veal sweetbread, snail ravioli, chestnut mushroom, 36 month old parmesan and Roscoff onion. Everything is cooked to perfection, delicious, hot and flavorsome.

Mains are where Jenkins talents really come into play however. I opted for the Venison roast loin – Eveleigh farm venison with bettroot, Yukon gold potato terrine and bone marrow. It was tenderly prepared, the meat soft and juicy, the potato smooth and creamy and offset perfectly by the tang of beetroot. My partner chose the duck – a breast of Goosnargh with spelt grain, peanut, brocolli, blackberry and confit gizzards. Again, it was prepared with the love and passion of only a true chef. Each mouthful was delicious, flavours complementing eachother perfectly and it would be near-impossible to find fault.

Dessert wise, it didnt take me long to choose the Chocolate Set Manjari ganache. Complimented with a generous dashing of praline cream and Goat’s milk ice cream it was a sweet-tooth’s dream and when accompanied by a pot of delicious loose-leaf tea, an ideal way to round off the meal. My partner’s dessert of poached cherries, honey cream, cherry sorbet and pistachio cake was just as delicious and something we would highly recommend.

It is £45 per person for a 3-course dinner from the market menu (excluding coffee) and even if you don’t stay at Brockencote Hall for a night, make sure you head there for dinner, you won’t regret it.

Once you have cleared your plates, do as we did and head back into the bar for an after-dinner tipple. Here you can sip on a baileys cocktail and let the night pass by as Brockencote Hall take care of you and ensure everything is just how you would like for an unforgettable stay.
