Olivia’s La Cala: Restaurant Review

Date:

Olivia’s La Cala in Spain is a contemporary and classy restaurant owned by reality TV star Elliot Wright…

Nestled on the sands of La Cala beach this unique dining experience with beautiful views is not something you want to miss out on.

Olivia’s La Cala consists of two dining areas, the downstairs being the main restaurant which has a substantial amount of indoor and outdoor seating. There are two bars located downstairs one which is inside and is the main cocktail bar and another which is situated just to the back of the outdoor seating. The second dining area is the upstairs. If you watched the recently aired ITV show Elliot Wright: Playa in Marbella which is based on the restaurant, you will have seen that this is Olivia’s most recent addition. The upstairs prides itself on being a raw fish bar instead of offering the A La Carte menu which is served downstairs. Olivia’s La Cala’s interior is decked out in plush white furniture which gives it a real touch of elegance and class whilst the outside is decorated with white Moet and Chandon umbrellas and comfy rattan garden furniture.

On arrival you are treated with the upmost care from the staff, the meet and greet staff are even there to help you up (or even down) the stairs if you may need it. Before being seated you have the choice to sit at one of the bars and choose a drink from their long list of beverages, or just go straight to your table where you will be handed the menu. The A La Carte menu offers a huge range of meals to choose from. It ranges from choosing something to be cooked on the grill like a steak, to scallops and even a Thai curry so there really is something for everyone. The presentation of the food is something that has clearly been well though out,  the food itself was of a very high standard and it wasn’t short of any flavour. I chose the red thai curry, I loved the fact that the red curry sauce came in a little jug for you to pour over.

There’s really no feeling of being rushed here even though there is a two hour table limit, after your meal you are welcome to take a wander upstairs or even sit in one of the bars downstairs for a cocktail or another tipple of your choice. If your table isn’t needed for another reservation the staff will always advise you just incase you wanted to stay a little longer. This decadent restaurant has a great buzz and atmosphere to it which makes you feel as if you really are somewhere special.

The staff also really take the time and effort to make you feel welcome and really complete this fine dining experience. We were served by Curtis who you may have seen featured in the TV series. He took the time talking to us even taking some photos and nothing was too much of a big ask. All of the staff we were served by were really attentive and very helpful even offering to tailor the drinks we had to pair with our meals perfectly.

Overall the whole experience is something really special and not one to be missed. There was nothing I could find any fault in. So if you’re planning a trip to Marbella or even Malaga it is worth popping by to see what all the fuss is about.
