The skincare to save you after the havoc-wreaking winter weather…

After a harsh and cold winter, our skin can be left feeling a little neglected to say the least! Chapped lips, flaking and dry skin, sound familiar? We’ve got the answers on how you can wave those winter months goodbye…

After all the cold (some of us were even lucky enough to see some snow!) weather we’ve had, we need to build back up and replenish the moisture in our skin which winter may have drained out of us! Moisturizers with ingredients such as Vitamin E and and Sunflower oil will work wonders for you skin, bringing back a plump and soft feel. We recommend The Body Shop Vitamin Moisturizing cream, they even have a handy little spray version of this to re hydrate your skin on the go! We also recommend the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream which includes hydrating ingredients such as omega-rich sunflower oil and Shea butter and the Neutrogena range which leaves your skin silky soft.

Exfoliating should be a vital part of your skincare routine. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a  real tough and sand-paper-like product. You just need to help your skin by exfoliating off all those dead skin particles. Exfoliating will help rid of your dry and flaking skin and aid your skin in rejuvenation, leaving you with a softer and silkier base. If you have sensitive skin we recommend the Liz Earle Gentle exfoliator. For normal, dry, oily and combination skin we recommend the Clarins One Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser with Orange Extract.

Cleansing helps our skin rid of impurities which may build up over winter. You should do this once in the morning and once in the evening before going to bed. Even a dry skin type can become congested as when your skin is dry it may overproduce sebum leaving you thinking you have an oily skin type. To combat this we recommend the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, this comes in a variety of scents so you can pick one that suits you best. We also recommend the Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea which will leave you feeling like you have taken a trip to a spa!

The most important step in your skincare is always to add in a little SPF. Whether it be in your moisturizer or your foundation. Even when the sun isn’t out our skin is still exposed and with Spring just around the corner and fingers crossed the warmer weather. We will all be spending a little more time outdoors! Find what works for you as some SPF products can lead your skin to break out. The best formulas are ones with non-chemical products in such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.
