If you are pregnant and expecting a new arrival in the coming weeks or months, chances are you will be looking at creating a baby registry. Baby registry’s are great for letting your family and friends know what gifts you would like as well as providing you with a place to make a list of all the items you’ll need before your little one arrives. You can put everything on your list, from the larger items such as cribs and pushchairs, to small items such as babygrows, dummies and bottles. While baby registries have been a bit thing in the US for a long time, it’s only recently that a baby registry UK has become a thing.
You can get your baby registry UK sorted as soon as you like, but many people choose to get it done before their baby shower. This can then be sent out with the invites and people will know what to buy you. By doing it this way, you don’t have duplicate or unnecessary gifts that people have just bought for the sake of it.

Don’t just add items for the sake of it
When you are creating your list, think of things that you actually want on it as opposed to just adding items for the sake of it. Once you get clicking around, you could soon find that you’re adding items without really thinking about them just because they look nice or sound cool. Instead, sit down with your partner or a family member that has a child already and consider the items that will actually be useful.
Include gender neutral items
Whether you know what you are having or it is still a surprise, you aren’t going to want too many gender specific items on your registry. Instead, it’s a good idea to add gender neutral items that will fit with your nursery decor but also can be used for future children. This means you will get more use out of them and won’t have a large expense again if you have any more babies going forward.
Don’t forget some items for Mum too!
When baby arrives, the focus is all on them and while this is to be expected, it’s important not to forget Mum too. After all, you have just gone through a lot and your life has completely changed – you need some TLC too! It’s a good idea to add items to your baby registry such as pamper products, breastfeeding tea and nipple pads that can help you as well as your little one.
Do your research
This is particularly true if you’re having your first baby, as it can be overwhelming knowing what you need and what you want. Some items can be gimmicky and end up not being used, which is a waste of your wishlist items! To avoid this, do plenty of research and find the items that other Mums actually love and use. You can find reviews online, on blogs and social media pages, as well as on retailer shops themselves.
Break your registry down into categories
There are so many things you will need for your new bundle of joy, it can be a bit much. To make it more manageable, break your registry down into categories such as:
This will make it easier to list and find what you’re after and also help those that are buying you things from your registry to see what you need.
