OXBO Bankside Sunday Brunch Review

OXBO Bankside is tucked away just off the South bank, a seven-minute walk from Blackfriars station, 13 minute walk from London Bridge and is easy to get to from all corners of the city – something you’re particularly grateful for when you emerge into the sunshine (feeling both full and tipsy) a couple of hours later. The Sunday brunch at OXBO London combines together unlimited starters, a brunch dish, a roast and unlimited desserts, served with free-flowing wine or prosecco. As far as a Sunday brunch goes, we don’t think it gets any better than this.

OXBO Bankside Sunday Brunch – The setting

Faux animal heads adorn wooden planks on the walls, jazzy carpets cover the floors and low-level lighting leads the way. There’s plenty to look at and the atmosphere is buzzing, made only more vibrant by the beats of live music in the air.

The venue feels friendly and welcoming and you’re well looked after. There’s a fair mix of people, with children well-catered for as well as those looking for a fun, boozy brunch with friends. No matter the reason you’re heading here and no matter how old or young, you won’t feel out of place and are guaranteed a good time.

OXBO Bankside Sunday Brunch – The food and drink

The OXBO Bankside Sunday Brunch menu is simple yet with plenty to choose from. Start with unlimited starters from the Chef traders table; there’s a impressive array with enough to whet your appetite without causing you to fill up and not be able to manage your mains. Crisp salads and cold-cuts sit alongside freshly baked bread and dips.

The next course is the open kitchen where you can request fresh dishes from their team of chefs who’ll whip them up right before you. Expect eggs benedict, fluffy pancakes piled high with topings and waffles drizzled with berry compote, maple syrup and whipped cream. As you dig in, friendly waiters will constantly top your glasses up with ice cold prosecco, red or white wine and conversation flows around you.

All dishes are expertly crafted by Hilton London Bankside’s Executive Head Chef, Ollie Couillard. With his 25 years of knowledge and experience in the industry, Couillard takes pride in serving only the best, unsurpassed quality of food.

Once you’ve had your fill of eggs or pancakes, your Sunday roast will be served. Choose between roast beef, roast chicken or the veggie option alongside fluffy Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes and vegetables to share. Being served alongside so many other dishes, you’d be forgiven for being a little dubious at how much focus would be on the roast. Be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. The portion sizes are large and all the accompaniments cooked to perfection.

To round off your OXBO Bankside Sunday Brunch, head to the dessert table where you can feast on an impressive array of sweet treats. There are a wide selection of colourful cakes and pastries, sweets and traditional puddings. The portion sizes are quite small, meaning you can enjoy a taste of everything should you wish (and have room!)
