We all love a bit of luxury and what is better than a luxurious hotel? So why not bring this feeling home with you? Here are some tips on how to make your bedroom like a luxury hotel…
One of the big attractions of travel is the luxury hotel. Hotel bedrooms often use touches of luxury that most of us don’t think about adding to our bedrooms at home. If you want to create a luxury bedroom, you can take some inspiration from your favourite hotels and bring some of the luxury life home with you.
Invest In Bedding
Start with your bedding. Think about your favourite hotel. What was the bedding like? Hotels always invest in high-quality sheets, and pillows, so you should too. Buy the best quality that you can afford.
Look for a high-thread-count, and sheets that are soft to the touch and feel good against your skin. Buy plump, fluffy pillows that will hold their shape, and treat yourself to more pillows than you might normally use. Your duvet ought to be fluffy too. All this gives you a bed that feels luxurious to sink into at the end of the day. We recommend investing in a bamboo duvet for the most sumptuously soft feel.
For the sheets themselves, opt for white. White sheets feel crisp, clean, and inviting. For the rest of the bedding, pick a colour scheme that you find calming.
Most hotel beds have a few layers. As well as the duvet, there will often be a throw, or a bed runner, to add some more colours, texture, and visual interest. Do the same, using throws, runners, or throw cushions.
Cut Out Clutter
Hotel rooms feel calm thanks to the empty space. Even if the rest of the house is a sea of clutter, make your bedroom a clutter-free zone, so it feels calm. Fitted wardrobes are a good way to keep the mess under control. Aim to keep surfaces clear of clutter, so make sure you have lots of storage space, so anything that isn’t meant to be there can be put away quickly. Avoid trailing phone chargers, laundry waiting to be put away, and other clutter, to make your room feel a lot more soothing to be in.
Get The Lighting Right
Hotel rooms usually have a few different light sources, so you can adjust the lighting depending on what you need to do. As well as the main overhead light, make sure you have some bedside lamps. These should give off a soft light, that is bright enough to read by without making you feel too awake. If you have a dressing table or makeup mirror, add some extra lighting around here, so you have a well-lit area for putting on makeup. This is common in hotel rooms and means you can see what you’re doing when you’re getting ready.
Add Luxe Carpeting
When you get out of bed in the morning, you want to put your feet somewhere soft and luxurious. Invest in a high-quality carpet, or lay a fluffy rug by the bed. This will feel lovely on bare feet, starting your day in the best way. This is much nicer than putting a foot out of bed onto a cold wood floor, or old, scratchy carpet. To maintain the softness and luxurious feel of your high-quality carpet or fluffy rug, consider using services like pro dry carpet cleaning.
