Vin and Omi always put on a spectacular show and they didn’t hold back with their Spring/ Summer 16 collection…
With truly stunning coiled headpieces and rich colours Vin and Omi SS16 collection felt like was watching a tribe from the Amazon forest. Aptly entitled ‘Futurewood’, wood was the main theme and all of the materials came from trees themselves. The underlying message from the designers is that we need to take note of what damage we are doing to trees and environment.
There was a lot of texture involved in the garments, such as an imitation to bark. Latex in the colours of red and white was heavily featured as well as hair in knots in one of the garments – L’Oreal Paris collaborated with Vin and Omi for this design.
Crop tops, asymmetrical lengths, vivid prints and high waisted skirts were the predominant designs in the collection. The last piece was especially outstanding, a full length dress made entirely of 18,000 acrylic nails in black, white and orange, layered up. Watching that piece move as the model walked was truly impressive.
