The influence of Elie Saab

Date:

Beautiful and timeless, it can only be Elie Saab

As an admirer of red carpet events, following the celebrations at the Cannes Film Festival, it was striking to see the number of A-Listers adorned in Elie Saab’s beautiful couture gowns…

In my mind, Saab’s prevalence on the Haute Couture scene has once and for all distinguished him as the icon of the new fashion era: his epochal début in 2003 stunned all, but now he is recasting the mould of fashion for this generation – it is his enchanting, fairytale collections that are the apple of every girls eye; the most desired fruit in the garden.

Elie Saab

After all, the Queen Bee of high society – Blair Waldorf – concludes her tale in naturally royal fashion. Swathed in an ornate, yet decorous number from Elie Saab’s Spring 2012 collection, and frosted in the perfect hue of icing-sugar blue, the dress casts one’s mind to a vision of Cinderella and Prince Charming:  an affinity to such a tale truly materialises Saab’s vision to craft real life “fairytale creations”.

Altogether, it has been the revival of relics of fashions passed that has enabled this high society vogue to translate to us young, inspired fashion disciples. This fashion of future past has engaged all signature styles of bygone decades to create a new variety of fashion which takes the meaning of classic to a new level: we are in the decade where we can pick and chose which iconic look we please, and for Elie Saab this means a collection of vastly desired dresses fit for any and all kinds of Princesses. Look to Saab for that simple elegance every woman seeks in a gown, for his eye for style shows he has fingers in every past fashion breakthrough, he is the future of couture with tribute to all those inspiring trends that shook the world of fashion of past.

Hey! I’m the other Natasha of Seen In The City. Writing has always been a passion of mine, though I find it to be only one of many of my creative expressions. I love to design and create in lots of different ways, not the least of which is in the way that I like dress myself from day to day. I like to consider myself a bit of a charity shop queen/master, whichever suits my mood.
