Charlotte Tilbury Flagship Store: Beauty Boudoir Makeover Review

Date:

We headed down to Charlotte Tilbury’s flagship store to see what all the fuss was about…

Charlotte Tilbury - Outside

There are two parts to the newly opened Charlotte Tilbury store, the upstairs being the shopping area which is full of Tilbury’s vast range of products. Each stand is divided up into helpful sections such as her bestsellers, Charlotte’s ten iconic looks, skincare line and of course her extensive range of lip colours which includes her new lipstick line “Hot Lips” all of these features go by Charlotte’s idea of a fast and fabulous shopping experience. You can also have a complimentary 15 minute quick trick makeover as demonstrated on Charlotte Tilbury’s YouTube channel. Then for my favourite part the downstairs, when going down into the beauty boudoir you really feel as if you’re stepping into Charlottes world. The walls are filled with various magazine covers and photoshoots that Charlotte has worked on. The entire boudoir is full of trinkets, treasures and all things art-deco and aesthetically pleasing.

The beauty boudoir has seven vanity tables inspired by the boudoirs of Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe. Each vanity table has hollywood lights circled around the mirror which really makes you feel as if you’re in a celebrities dressing room. To make an appointment you can either book online which is what I did, all you need to do is create an online account. You can also phone the store or even pop in and the staff will be more than happy to help. You have the choice of what type of artist you’d like either an in-house artist which will cost £35 or a lead artist which will cost £55 for an hour. There are four options for your makeover to choose from. Either recreating one of Charlotte’s iconic looks, expert artistry made easy, red carpet makeup and skincare and wedding makeup.

For my appointment I booked with Lead Artist Martha, I decided to go for one of Charlotte’s ten iconic looks to recreate. When I arrived I was greeted by my makeup artist and asked if I would like a complimentary glass of prosecco before being taken to one of the dressing tables. Martha was extremely helpful when it came to choosing what look I was going to go for. I told her what jewellery I was going to be wearing and the colour of my dress. Based on what I told her, Martha advised I try out the Rock Chick look which is a beautiful smokey silver eye with winged liner and a nude lip. Martha also asked about how I would usually do my makeup and what looks I like on myself. I also had the choice between the two of Charlotte’s foundations one being the Light Wonder foundation which has a dewy finish with a lighter coverage, the other being the Magic Foundation which is a semi-matte formula with a medium to high coverage. As I was going out for the evening I opted for the Magic Foundation with the higher coverage. When she was doing my makeup Martha talked through all the steps on how to achieve a certain look and how she used each of the products so I could recreate the look at home. When the makeover was finished Martha gave me a helpful list of all the products she used on me, as well as the prices which made it really easy to pick out the products that I was going to purchase. Martha also advised me that the £55 that I paid for the makeover was redeemable on any products I purchased. There were a few products that had been on my wish list for what seemed like ages, so I knew this was the perfect opportunity to pick them up and make them part of my collection. In the end I chose the Magic Foundation in shade 5, the Airbrush Flawless Finish powder in Shade 2 and the Filmstar Bronze and Glow Face Sculpt and Highlight duo.

The overall experience of the beauty boudoir really made me feel as if I was stepping into Charlotte Tilbury’s mind and seeing how this truly inspirational woman works. The staff were all very welcoming and my makeup artist Martha really took the time and effort to make sure I left feeling beautiful. Charlotte believes in empowering women and making them look and feel their best which this experience truly made me feel.

So whether you’re just heading to her store for a quick snoop, or going to have a makeover from one of her artists it is definitely worth a trip.
