Now that London fashion week is over and autumn is just around the corner, it is time for a wardrobe change…

Push the summer dresses to the back and make space for some new intricate pieces. Thrifting can be the perfect way to experiment with different styles and developing your fashion personality, but for a fraction of the price of mainstream stores.

 Be experimental

Thrift shops can offer so many unique and extraordinary pieces that you will not be able to find in your local high street stores. They enable you to take a chance and embrace the new you in this back to college and university season so delve deep and get stuck into something new. Try out bold statement pieces that intrigue you, and what you maybe would not usually pick out and pair with simple silver or gold delicate jewellery .

 The ‘eye’

Admittedly not everything in a thrift store will be amazing, so you will have to rummage through the rubbish to find those pieces that were worth scouting for. Having the eye for thrifting can take a while but try and picture yourself wearing the piece with some of the clothes you have at home. Use your imagination too, you may have to get extremely creative in your thinking.

 Look for graphics and patterns

Designers have some extremely bizarre yet wonderfully unique pieces, so use inspiration from the names in London fashion week regarding new patterns and graphic designs.

Making pieces your own

Whilst you are looking around, pick out the patterns and fabrics you like the look of, whether they fit or not you can get inventive and let your imagine prevail to create the pieces which suit your style perfectly. Cut them, rip them, tare them up and create pieces to suit your needs. You can sew them up or keep them rugged and looking handmade one off pieces.

Go out, experiment and get creative with your wardrobe this autumn. The options are endless.
