First look at the heartwarming Christmas ad from Co-Op

See the Co-Op’s heartwarming Christmas ad which truly encapsulates community spirit…

December is finally here and we are getting more and more christmassy by the day. We’ve already seen festive adverts from a lot of big brands and today sees the launch of the brand new, heart-warming ad from the Co-Op.

With food and communities at its heart, the advent didn’t use real actors, instead opting for real community music groups who collaborated on its song – a modern Britpop classic, Blur’s Tender. All proceeds from this release will go to charity. The advert was filmed in the brand’s home city of Manchester and other spots around the North West.

There were intentionally no rehearsals in advance of the shoot, so the interactions in the advert are all genuine and illustrate the authentic feelings of happiness that come from spending time with friends and family at Christmas.

The advert will debut during prime-time TV tonight (Friday the 1st December) so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.

Amanda Jennings, the Marketing Communications Director of Co-op commented on the advert: “For us, the Christmas TV advert has always started in December. It is an extremely competitive time of year for retailers, but we believe it’s important to match with our customers’ need for convenience on everyday items alongside our fantastic offer on Christmas essential and treats. Christmas is about togetherness and we have chosen two of the great unifiers – food and music – to showcase this and bring Christmas back to what really matters. It’s all about those little moments that bring people together at Christmas”
