Rum old Fashioned Cocktail

A rum old fashioned is the ideal cocktail if you fancy a traditional old-fashioned but not fancying it with a whisky. It’s delicious, flavorsome and perfect for a special occasion when you are in the mood to celebrate. Simple to make, it needs to be on your list of tipples this Christmas…

Ingredients

  1. 2 parts Barcadi Carta Negra Or Bacardi Major Lazer Limited Edition Rum
  2. 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  3. 1 splash of water
  4. 1-2 tsp sugar
  5. Cubed ice
  6. Garnish with an orange peel

Method

In a rocks glass add the granulated sugar, angostura bitters and a single ice cube. Stir the ingredients together until the sugar has dissolved in the glass.

Add another 3 to 4 ice cubes and 1 part of the Bacardi Carta Negra rum into the glass and stir for 1 minute. Then add some more ice and pour in the rest of the Bacardi Carta Negra rum, stir the mixture for another 60 seconds

Finish by cutting an orange peel, twisting over your glass and then adding it to the drink and stirring a couple of times. Pop in a Cinnamon stick for a festive twist.

Major Lazor Rum Old Fashioned

You may want to try their new limited edition rum created by Major Lazer. We used this rum to make our cocktail and it worked nicely, giving it a slight almondy flavour. This will be available on Amazon from the 16th December – It’s certainly worth the wait!
