Rockwell East London Aparthotel Review – A home from home, (only better…)

Rockwell East combines the best bits of Hotelling and Apartment rentals, providing the perfect home-from-home when in the city…

When staying away there are two types of accommodation you normally opt for – an Airbnb or a Hotel. With an Airbnb, you know exactly what you are getting yourself into, thanks to the honest reviews left about the space, and with Hotels, you know the drill too. You know the front desk are just a short call or walk away, whether you’ve forgotten a toothbrush or your minibar needs restocking. But sometimes you want to smudge the lines between the two a little, to stay somewhere that feels homier than just a bed in a room, yet has the sleek feel and “beck and call” luxury vibe of a Hotel. Rockwell East is your answer. The latest in a new trend of aparthotels.

Head through the front door of Rockwell East and you’re greeted with an airy reception area, cafe and check-in desk. The check-in process is smooth and we’re handed two keys for a room on the fifth floor. We step in the elevator and are whisked up five floors, to be greeted by a freshly decorated hallway with our door at the end. We open the door and are welcomed by a spacious, plush area flooded with light. The walls are a soothing shade of light grey with monochrome accents. Dashes of decadent jewel tones are evident in the plush amethyst hued cushion on the bed and sapphire one on the sofa, with a gold trinket tray and blue bowl resting on the coffee table.

Art decorates the walls, simple yet contemporary in design and there are plenty of lamps to give a cosy amber glow when the sunset fades behind the curtains. A fully equipped kitchen covers the wall nearest the door and is stocked with everything you’ll need. Whether you want to cook your partner and yourself a gourmet meal, or you simply want to uncork a bottle of wine and curl up with a movie and a bowl of snacks, you’ll find all you need.

There is a TV for watching a film if you fancy a night in, or to pop music on while getting ready for a night out on the tiles – something the location is perfect for. A short walk from the Tower of London and a host of world famous galleries, museums, markets and restaurants, it has all you need within walking distance. If you don’t fancy walking, there are plenty of transport hubs nearby, with the underground, overground and bus links just a short distance away. Rockwell East also has a cafe and bar open from 7 am until midnight every day. You get breakfast included in your stay – a delicious buffet with a colourful spread of fruits, pastries, cereals and all the elements of a full English, as well as toast, tea, coffee and juices- the perfect set up for a day ahead in the city.

Rockwell East proves that while there may be no place like home, you can certainly find somewhere that is close to it, with the added extras that make going away that bit more worthwhile. It offers all the advantages of staying in a hotel – chic design, luxury amenities and a cleaning service, alongside homey comforts and infinite more space than an apartment provides.
