Feeling disorganised? Here are some top ideas of what to do with your unwanted clutter...

Store It

You may have a number of things that you don’t have space for at your current home, but want to keep should you ever move into a bigger place.  They could be bits of bulky furniture or items with sentimental value. Either way, you have no space for them now but getting rid of them isn’t an option. The best option here is to rent storage for them until you’re able to give them a home again later.  There are lots of places to choose from and you don’t need a huge lock-up style space.  Many places have units that start off very small.

Donate It

Why not do a good deed and donate your items to good causes? There are many charity shops that will take your unwanted clothing, accessories, book and toys. For larger items, there are a few charities that will pick up the furniture from your house if you don’t have any other means to transport them. If you are clearing out a lot of family and children’s items, there a many community clothing banks or women’s refuges. You can feel good that your items have gone towards helping out others.

Sell It

Make some extra money from all your unwanted items.  There are a number of options to sell almost anything.  Try sites like Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace or eBay. There are a number of specialist sites that will give you a price for your items upfront, all you have to do is scan them into an app, accept the price and then send post them off:

If you’re up for negotiating some prices, a car boot sale can be an enjoyable way to sell your items in one go (hopefully).  Every weekend, there are hundreds of car boot sales up and down the country. If you chose the right places to sell your items, you can make yourself some good money.

Upcycle It

Upcycling is huge at the minute.  Taking unwanted pieces of furniture and give them a new lease life.  The only limit is your imagination. If you feel like getting creative then there are absolutely loads of how-to guides and tutorials online to inspire you to create your own. Once you’ve created your masterpiece, you can either put it to use at home to create the perfect interior or sell it on for a profit.  You never know you might get the upcycling bug.
