4 Ways to Add Personality To Your Family Home

Date:

Your home is your very own space and should be a reflection of all those that live there. Here are four ways to add personality to your home…

Your first family home should be a place that celebrates everybody, not just how you want your home to look. Even if your kids and your partner act like they don’t really care how everything looks, deep down, they’ll still want to feel like their home is just as much theirs as it is yours. With so many memories already made, and many more still to come, you want to ensure your home shows off a little bit of everybody, and here are four ways to do this.

personality to your home

Make a Statement

If your family is bold and in your face, making a statement is the best way to reflect your personality to whoever steps through the front door. There are plenty of ways to go about this, too. You can opt for dynamic and vibrant colours over the more reserved pastel styles that you see in other homes. Likewise, you can look at JR Decal to add images and stencils to the walls, whether for the whole year or to celebrate the holidays. Some might think it’s a little over the top, but this might be the reason you’re attracted to it.

Collaborate

It’s tempting to take the reins and make the home look exactly how you envisioned it. However, this means that it’s missing crucial elements of other personalities that could make it stand out. You might prefer a traditional approach, but others might feel more comfortable in a minimalist modern home. The only right answer for this is to meet in the middle, compromise, and collaborate. Rather than boss everyone around, get their input for the colours, furniture, and decor, and you might come away with something unique and appealing.

Go Homemade

The fact is that unique artwork can be expensive, and if you don’t want to rely on items from your local flat packing store, going homemade is the next best option. Of course, you might not consider yourself too handy with a paintbrush or even a nail and hammer. This is all part of the fun, though. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your family, have a painting night together and create something, or use How-To videos to make frames, tables, and more.

Bring the Outside In

Plants, flowers, trees, herbs, and anything else you can find from your yard will immediately add a touch of your personality to any home. These will give you something to care for, which can provide some semblance of routine, and they will also improve the air quality, increasing your ability to focus while also looking good on windowsills, mantelpieces, and tables throughout the house.

A Little of You (And Everybody Else)

If you know that this is the home you will spend the rest of your life in, then there is no reason not to fill your home with a little bit of everybody. From memories to homemade trinkets to things that catch your eye whenever you walk into a room, there are plenty of options for you to make your home reflect your personality in every room, every nook, and every cranny.
