3 Winter Pick-Me-Up That Will Help You Beat the Blues

Date:

Winter (and particularly winter when Covid is about) can be a bleak place. This is why we have put together three winter pick-me-ups to help combat this…

There is no question that 2020 has been hard on almost everyone. Even though it’s almost over, the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading and surging in different parts of the world. Many people are spending the holidays at home, while others are holding out hope that the newly-created vaccines are administered quickly.

But, it’s likely that many of the rules, regulations, and guidelines that are in place right now will carry over into 2021. Unfortunately, winter can be a hard enough time for some people. With colder temperatures, shorter days, and social distancing, this winter could be even more difficult than usual. Thankfully, there are easy things you can do to feel better every day. When you choose to make positive decisions and try to be happy, you’re more likely to find joy in your experiences. If you’re not sure where to start looking for that joy, that’s okay! Let’s go over three easy pick-me-ups you can put into practice this winter.

  1. Cozy Up With a Book

This might seem like a classic idea, but that’s the point. Reading never goes out of style and never fails to make people feel great. Whether you get a great book for Christmas or you seek out something you think will interest you, finding a relaxing time to read can really change your mood. This year has been stressful, and reading can take you away into new worlds and allow you to “escape” for a while. So, while it might seem like an old-fashioned way to relax, that could be exactly what you need.

  1. Buy Yourself Something

Some studies have shown that the idea of “retail therapy” can actually be effective. That doesn’t mean that going out and buying something is going to solve all of your problems. It also doesn’t mean that you should use spending money as a way to try to fix things. But, if you’re just looking for a pick-me-up from a bad day, buying yourself something you’ve had your eye on can help. Whether you’re looking at balenciaga bags, new jewelry, or a new pair of shoes, there is nothing wrong with treating yourself once in a while.

  1. Learning a New Skill

Many people have been “stuck” at home for the majority of 2020. You may find yourself in a similar situation as the new year begins. So, if you’re feeling like you’re stuck in a rut and the cold winter weather doesn’t help, why not learn something new that you can do at home? There are online classes you can take that will cover just about any subject, from cooking to crafting. You could start exercising at home, or learning more about a new  hobby, like sewing or collecting.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure it’s something that you think you’ll actually enjoy, not just something to fill your time. If you learn a skill or find a hobby you love, you can turn to it whenever you’re feeling down.

Winter doesn’t have to be a time of dread and sadness, especially with a new year just around the corner. Keep these ideas in mind to give yourself a boost and make the most of this season.
