As we enter our year anniversary of lockdown it has us longing for the days when restaurants will soon open and we can enjoy being wined and dined once again. Yet we are also reflecting on some of the top skills and interests we have picked up in the past twelve months and one of the top ones includes cooking. Many of us are keen to continue this skill and aspiring Master chefs can do just that with the latest virtual masterclass from Wellocks at Home. Wellocks and Home are the nationwide premium ingredient delivery service from the suppliers to many of the UK’s Michelin-starred restaurants. Their masterclass is to be hosted by James MacKenzie, chef and owner of Michelin-starred The Pipe and Glass in Beverley, East Yorkshire, participants of all cooking abilities will prepare and enjoy an exclusive three-course menu for two.

What does the masterclass involve?

The masterclass, priced at £70 and accessed via wellocksathome.co.uk, features recipes from The Pipe and Glass’ sensational seasonal menu and represents James’ signature style of imaginative British cooking, using high quality local and seasonal produce to create hearty yet modern ‘pub-style’ dishes. Ahead of the masterclass taking place, participants will receive a stunning box of high-quality, measured ingredients to create the fine-dining feast, and can work through James’ expert instructions by following the preparation and masterclass videos at their leisure over the experience weekend. £5 from each order goes to Wellocks at Home’s charity partner, Springboard’s FutureChef, which aims to inspire young people to explore food and cooking as a life skill.

The Menu

  • Starter: First of the season English asparagus with a crispy Cacklebean egg, Yorkshire chorizo and lovage mayonnaise

  • Main: Wild garlic roast crown of chicken, Morel mushrooms, potato fondant, creamed curly kale and smokey bacon crumb

  • Dessert: Baked dark chocolate ‘Millionaire’ pudding

How you can take part

The virtual masterclass is available to purchase until midnight on 15th April from wellocksathome.co.uk/pages/masterclass, with ingredients being delivered on 22nd April ahead of the masterclass weekend (23rd-25th April).
