Why a virtual date is the best option for a first date

Date:

Online dating and virtual dates are continuing to dominate the dating scene. Here is why it might be the best option for a first date…

As technology develops, so does the way that we date. Instead of meeting and courting someone, we now message so much that before a first date we can already recite the names of all their siblings, where they went on holiday in 2012, and the name of their great aunt’s dog. We can check out their instagram and other social media profiles and get a pretty good vision in our mind of what they are like as a person. The past year and the pandemic has also exacerbated this and made it impossible to meet up in person even if we had wanted to. This is where virtual dating has come in and more people are enjoying first dates via Zoom or another meeting software. While this was pretty unheard of a few years ago, it is fast becoming the norm and it isn’t such a bad thing. Here are a few reasons why no matter your age, whether you are in your early 20s or looking for a retired dating site, online virtual dates can be the best option for your first meet…

You don’t have to worry about your safety

Going on a first date can be daunting. You will have to think about how you are going to get to wherever you are meeting the other person and how you will get home safely again too. You are also putting yourself in a more vulnerable position by meeting someone that you have never spoken to in real life before. By doing this virtually you can get to know them without any of the risk or having to worry about getting there and back.

It is easier to tell them you’re not quite into them

We’ve all been on awkward first dates where we just want to leave. But when you are stuck in a restaurant or bar it is a lot more pressure than if you are at home. If you are not feeling it, you can stick with the date and tell them politely at the end (or in the middle) without having to worry about getting the same bus route home. And if worse comes to worse you can just er “lose your internet connection”…

You can get to know their intentions better

When you meet up in person, it could be that your date has something a bit more physical in mind. By putting in the work to meet up online knowing that this isn’t an option, you can just get to know the other person and find out what their intentions are. It can give you a better gauge of what they are like, if you have any attractions and to find things to talk about and discuss.

You can be creative

With a virtual date, you can be super creative with what you do – and don’t need to spend a fortune and can even enjoy free dating. Whether you decide to do a virtual cookery class, an innovative date night box or wine tasting, you have endless options.

These are just a few reasons that using an online virtual date for your first date can work in your favour. What are your thoughts? Have you had many? Let us know in the comments below…
