For foodies that are used to traveling the globe in search of new cuisines, the past twelve months haven’t quite cut it. For while takeaways are great, they just aren’t the same. We love finding great foods from all around the world and there are so many different cuisines out there to try. We have gathered together the best foods from around the world that you should add to your world food bucket list. (You can thank us later…)
Great Britain
Starting from home, we have so many cuisines that are unique and make us quintessentially British. These include the classic Sunday Roast, English Breakfast and Fish and Chips. There are a few other foods that might not be as well known but are sure to get your tastebuds tingling. Starting in Scotland you will need to try the famous deep fried Mars Bar, this might sound like an odd combination but it has become a true Scottish delicacy. Next on the list is Wales, here is where you will have to try the Welsh Rarebit. A twist on the classic cheese on toast the Welsh rarebit is the perfect lunchtime treat. Heading on down to the South Coast of England, you should definitely try the Cornish Pasty. It can be eaten hot or cold and is an excellent snack to eat on the beach in front of the Cornish waves.
France
If you find yourself in France then we there are some excellent foods that you can add to your world food bucket list. If comfort food is your thing then you have to sink your teeth into some Gratin Dauphinois. It is a heavenly cheesy garlic potato dish, doesn’t that scream comfort food. A true foodie will try anything and what cuisine comes to mind when you think of France, Snails of course. Escargot which is the official name and sounds much nicer than snails is a french delicacy and should definitely be tried at least once when in France.
Japan
There is an abundance of Asian foods to try but if you are specifically in Japan then you have got to try the classic Ramen dish. Made up of noodles, a savoury broth, eggs and a choice between beef, pork or vegetables. When visiting the Japanese food markets you have to try the Gyoza, it is a meat filled dumpling that will get your mouth salivating.
USA
The USA has a blot of ground to cover, from burgers to pancakes the USA has a lot of popular western dishes to try. If you find yourself in San Francisco, head on over to fisherman’s wharf and grab yourself some Clam Chowder. Served in a hollowed out bread bun this dish is to die for. if you are not a seafood person then you could opt for the vegetable option. If you are in Florida then you have to add the key lime pie to your world food bucket list. It is a dessert pie made up of lime, egg whites, condensed milk then topped with meringue.
