The Most Powerful AMG Ever Made

This is Mercedes-AMG’s first foray into the plug-in hybrid market and likely to be the first of many. This stunning Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE is also the most powerful AMG ever made thanks to a combination of a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, a 6.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack and an electric motor providing a staggering 831 horsepower and 1,033 pound-feet of torque.

Blistering Speeds

The new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE plug-in hybrid boasts a 0-62 time of just 2.9 seconds, which is faster than the GT Black Series Coupe and matches the highly -anticipated but recently delayed Tesla Roadster. Additionally, the GT 63 S E Performance has a top speed of a blistering 196mph. The only drawback of this model when compared to other vehicles in its class is the electric driving range, which is around 7.5 miles.

Price

In terms of price, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE set at $140,600 while the 63 S is $161,900. It is expected that the S E Performance will sit at the top of the GT 4-door range, so a price of around $200,000 is expected (the same amount as the Tesla Roadster). The GT 63 S E is expected to go on sale sometime later this year and will certainly be a strong addition to the high-performance luxury hybrid market.

Protecting Your Investment

For those that are looking to make the switch to an electric or plug-in hybrid, you need to protect your investment particularly if opting for a luxury car like the GT 63 S E. One of the best ways to do this is with GAP insurance, which covers the gap between an insurance payout and the amount outstanding on a finance deal in the event of a write off. Whether you are driving the Mercedes-AMG 63 S E Performance or something with a little less power, it is a good idea to cover yourself with Mercedes GAP insurance and this could save you a fortune in the event of a write off.

The impressive Mercedes-AMG 63 S E Performance will be a superb addition to the luxury plug-in hybrid range, which is a field that is heating up in terms of competition. Mercedes will always have an allure that is hard to match with other brands and the astonishing performance packed into the 63 S E Performance means that it will be hard to top.
