The benefits of hedges for different-sized gardens

Whether you have a lot of outdoor space attached to your home or very little, you may want to make the most of what is on offer. While smaller gardens and courtyards may not allow you to choose from all the plants available, you could still make them look beautiful and welcoming. One of the ways of improving your garden, regardless of the size, can be through the installation and growth of different types of hedges.

Average gardens

When you have a good amount of space available for plants, seating, and a lawn, you may want to consider how you can add as much greenery as possible. This can allow you to create a tranquil paradise, and even stop people from being able to peer into your home. Those who have pets may also want to consider how to make them feel safer in their own space, especially if you own dogs who don’t like seeing people walk by. You may find that instant hedges suitable for all gardens are a great solution to meet your needs. These could allow you to hide outside activity from your pets while still contributing towards having as much nature as possible in your garden. You may want to be cautious of wildlife resting or hiding within the hedges before you let your dogs out in future but, otherwise, they could stop those previous issues from occurring.

Smaller gardens

Those who have exceptionally small gardens, or even courtyards, may feel like there is not a lot of freedom available in that space. You could then use hedging as a means of creating boundaries between your property and the pavement or other public space. Some people find that hedging is preferable to fencing because, while it still provides that purpose, it may not feel as restrictive. Should you have neighbours, it could be a good idea to discuss your plans with them, especially if you plan on removing any fencing to do so. Homeowners may want to check who owns the fencing as well, meaning you may only be able to install hedging on one side of your garden.

Large gardens

Hedging can be used in a number of ways in exceptionally large gardens. While they can still help to show the boundaries of your property, there may also be a use for them inside the garden as well. This can include creating arches or separators between one section and another. For example, you could have a patio, and then hedging to separate it from the main lawn. While you may be able to use instant hedging for general separation, building arches and walkways using the natural shape and appearance of hedging can take a lot more time and dedication, so you may need to be willing to put that effort in.

You might find that hedges can have a respectable place in any size garden, especially if you are smart about their usage. Before you order, it could be a good idea to think about what you want to get out of your garden, to allow you to buy hedges that meet your needs.
