There’s a new Ted in Town – We explore the new Ted Baker collection
That’s right. Ted Baker, one of our favourite fashion brands, has just released a smashing new menswear collection. And when we say smashing, we mean in a ‘through the roof’ kinda way. The new “T for Tall” range is the second “big and tall” collection to come from the “affordable luxury” brand, answering the prayers all modish men north of 6’3 and counting.
Following its AW14/15 debut, Ted Baker has once again enlisted Olympian swimmer Mark Foster to front the “T for Tall” marketing campaign. The mini-movie follows Mark’s plight in a slapstick kidnapping-gone-wrong when the 6’6 sporting champion won’t fit into the boot of the getaway car.
Humour aside, the ‘T for Tall’ range exhibits some serious style. With news lines added for Spring/Summer 2015 (including the all-important swim shorts) the capsule collection covers all wardrobe needs, from working in the office to working out. Ted’s iconic tailoring is evident throughout, with sharply-cut suiting and smart sweaters aplenty. But it’s those hidden, hard-to-spot details that make this carefully crafted collection so charming and send it soaring a head and shoulders above the drab designs usually found on the high street when it comes to shopping for six foot plus.
A reversible bomber jacket, some suede low-top trainers and one or two Hawaiian shirts all feature in the collection. Shoes go up to size 13 while swanky cable knit sweaters stretch a good 46 inches across. And what chap’s closet would be complete without those trusty chinos? The slim-fit Norfolk design, available in four staple hues, is a steal at under a hundred squid:
The collection is currently available exclusively online, with lots of twitter talk surrounding the #TforTall hashtag. Ted Baker’s alpine ambassador can be found showcasing the collection here.
With Mark Foster’s statuesque gait and a handsome profile that could turn a straight man, we think this Olympic swimmer is on to a style winner.
