A Discussion On: CBD oil and its benefits with Michelle Rust

If you are yet to dabble in the CBD market, then what are you waiting for? We discuss the benefits of CBD oil with Michelle Rust…

Can we normalise talking about menopause? Why oh why, when we are at an age of such openness that everyone talks about everything, can’t we have a conversation about menopause? While we’re at it, why aren’t we taught about it in the same way as puberty? After all, both are times of transition and both are equally important, life-changing occurrences. Why is it swept under the carpet like an afterthought when it can start as early as your 30s in some instances? When we teach girls about starting periods, is it not logical to educate them about the menopause at the same time? Women may live another 40 years beyond it. So, this is important and we need to talk about it.

Menopause affects women in stages. Symptoms can start as early as your 30s. The early stage, known as perimenopause, is when the ovaries gradually make less estrogen. It lasts until menopause; when the ovaries stop releasing eggs altogether. Symptoms of perimenopause range from irregular periods, hot flashes and mood swings to sleeplessness.

“In my early 40s I started to struggle with the symptoms of menopause. Sleep deprivation caused night sweats and hot flushes,” says Michelle Rust, founder of Potyque CBD oil.

“My 22 years in the pharmaceutical industry meant that I had a deep interest in medicine. I knew that I wanted to take a natural, non-invasive approach to managing my own symptoms. That is how I became intrigued by the values and benefits of CBD oil,” she adds.

“Potyque was born out of my quest for finding the best CBD oil I could. I soon realised that not all oils are the same. I started creating my own premium CBD oil first and foremost for my own benefit. It is then that I wanted to share the benefits with others. Now we only use first-class biodynamically grown hemp and the finest extraction processes for Potyque,” Michelle continues.

“We tend to underestimate the benefit of plants, which is odd when you realise how many pharmaceuticals are derived from natural products. For me, oil was the obvious choice as opposed to other plant-based solutions due to my own experience with CBD oil and its positive effects on me. So now, there is a premium product on the market, for people like me, who would rather use natural supplements than fall back on prescribed medicines,” adds Michelle.

For anyone that is new to CBD oil, it’s important to do your own research. Always make sure that there is a Certificate of Analysis on any website that sells CBD oil. If there is no certificate Michelle advises us to move on. Potyque offers its own Certificate of Analysis on their website. The brand keeps things simple. There are four strengths of the oil – 5%, 10%, 20% and 30%. It is advised that we start with the lowest strength to minimise any side effects which are mostly transient if you do experience them.

You simply add two to three drops of Potyque to your daily routine – after brushing your teeth for example. Then increase it to twice a day after a week. By the third week as the body has become accustomed to the potency you can increase this to three times a day. From then on you can simply increase the strength of the oil you use as you go, following the same steps each time you increase the potency. The Food Standards Agency recommends a maximum daily dose of 70mg, so Michelle advises not to exceed the recommended daily dose. Michelle also encourages users of Potyque CBD to keep a journal (available to download from our website) to keep track of how you feel as you titrate up through the strengths.
