Throughout June, Covent Garden will celebrate all forms of love for London’s Pride with an array of vibrant activities and colourful installations across the estate. New eye-catching displays will pop up on the Piazza, including a rainbow light installation which will glow throughout the Market Building, as well as a flowering Pride swing bench in front of the Market Building’s South Hall. Various brand experiences and activities will take place in June, spreading positivity, diversity and inclusion throughout the neighbourhood whilst honouring and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.
Covent Garden will draw inspiration from the Pride rainbow flag as the estate lights up both the exterior and interior of the Market Building with an immersive rainbow installation. Taking place daily between 7 – 11pm, the internal light installation will showcase a colourful and immersive rainbow lightshow, whilst on Saturday 29th June, the exterior of the iconic building will be lit up in rainbow colours in celebration of London’s annual Pride parade.
Visitors can relax on the new ‘Flowering with Pride’ swing bench surrounded by a beautiful display of plants spanning all colours of the rainbow – providing the perfect Pride photo opportunity. For every social post featuring the #CoventGardenPride hashtag, Covent Garden will donate £1 to akt (@aktcharity), a charity supporting LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 in the UK who are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.
This Pride, popular food spot, Shake Shack is joining forces with local LGBT+ and LGBTQIA+ charities, with a limited edition rainbow-sprinkled Pride shake, donating £1 from every Pride shake sale. Food and drink lovers can also head to Seven Dials Market as they pull out all the stops to celebrate all kinds of love this Pride. In partnership with Pride in London, Seven Dials Market will offer a variety of special delights from Hash Hut’s cheesy bran browns to Yum Bun’s rainbow salad set. The market will also feature DJ sets from talent in the LGBTQ+ community every Friday and Saturday night during the month of June.
For culture lovers, visitors can discover a lineup of talks and Pride workshops at The London Transport Museum, along with taking part in a mini quiz hosted by Drag extraordinaire The Nightbus, with a chance to win a range of prizes. Theatre lovers can explore the rich contributions of LGBTQ+ icons who have helped shape The Royal Opera House, along with the vibrant history of queer performers in Covent Garden.
Those looking for the perfect gift for a loved one can head to the female and LGBTQ-founded contemporary print shop, They Made This, to browse the array of art representing over 60 of the world’s best graphic artists, photographers and designers. Happy Socks will also be donating a portion of sales to celebrate and raise awareness of Pride this month. 10% of Pride-related sales will go to InterPride, one of the world’s largest LGBTQ+ charities. Whilst, Apple is proud to introduce a new Apple Watch Pride edition, offering a spectrum of colours representing the vibrancy and diversity of LGBTQ+ communities.
