Here’s How To Get To London’s Secret Hidden Christmas Bar – The Mistletoe Mixer

Let’s face it, 2024 hasn’t been the best of years so far and while it appears we’ve had our week of summer, it has many of us turning our sights to a more cheery season. Christmas. Because how can you ever feel sad or stressed when you’re surrounded by the dulcet tones of Mariah Carey, an eggnog in hand and gaudy Christmas lights flashing all around you. DesignMyNight Presents The Mistletoe Mixer at Merchant House, a kitsch and playful festive two-week pop-up hidden behind a secret toilet door. Expect retro décor, eggnog cocktails, and non-stop Christmas hits in the heat of August.

Situated in the heart of the City, DesignMyNight Presents The Mistletoe Mixer at Merchant House is the perfect summer outing for Christmas fanatics. The nostalgic pop-up rewinds the clock with a sleigh’s-worth of retro decor and a playlist peppered with all the classics including Slade, Shakin’ Stevens and Wham!.

The two-week pop-up is the first to hit London in the summer, and even more unusually – the bar is hidden behind a secret door in an unassuming toilet. Plus, the air conditioning will keep customers cool during the London heatwave. With users searching and planning for Christmas earlier than ever before, this might be the answer to those who just can’t get enough of the festivities.

The space has been curated by experiential event specialist EDNAEDNA and the cocktails at the pop-up have been designed in-house by the Merchant House team who have recently celebrated their 10th birthday. They’ve brought Christmas to the table with a lot of sustainably sourced items from the 50s such as retro board games and a selection of sips from Sazerac including; Keep your change, ya filthy Flip!, an eggnog-inspired drink garnished with a toasted marshmallow and made with Buffalo Trace Bourbon; It’s a beaut, Clark! It’s a flute! – a Seignette VS cognac concoction with a candy cane topped peppermint Champagne tipple in a dainty flute; Fraa-jeel-aay! It must be Italian! a negroni-style drink made with Warners Christmas Cake Gin and infused with rosemary and juniper, alongside It’s because I’m green isn’t it?, a moreish spiced apple and ginger rum highball with a delicious blend of Trash & Treasure Botanical Rum.
