Vienna – a place of outstanding natural beauty and cultural heritage has been voted the world’s most liveable city…

Vienna, The Austrian capital has been voted the world’s most liveable city in the annual Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) survey announced yesterday and is the first ever European city to have topped the survey’s rankings. This comes after being named the best city in the world for quality of life for the ninth year running in Mercer’s 2018 annual Quality of Living survey which was announced in March this year.

There are so many aspects that make Vienna a desirable place to visit, from the stunning Schönbrunn Palace, to its imperial and contemporary art and famous Viennese coffee.

Helena Hartlauer, Vienna Tourist Board says “We are honoured to have been voted the world’s most liveable city in this prestigious report. This city continues to act as the beating heart of European culture, an accolade which is set to expand in years to come. It remains, and always has been a very special place to visit, dine, explore and enjoy, whilst being on British travellers’ doorstep”.

Vienna offers a beautifully varied landscape with luscious green parks and tree lined boulevards, with more than half of Vienna’s metropolitan area made up of green spaces. It is also the only major world capital with an extensive wine industry operation within its city limits. It is also known as a city for classical music which can be enjoyed in virtually every square, park and cafe.

The study looked at 140 cities from all around the world, setting scores on stability, healthcare, culture and environment, infrastructure and education. Vienna successfully displaced Melbourne in Australia from the stop spot, which it previously held for a record seven consecutive years.
