Brighton Foodie Festival 2015 Review

Chicken sizzling, wine swirling, nuts crunching and many other beautiful sounds signal the annual Foodie festival- a must visit for any food and drink enthusiast.

If you were to walk past Hove lawns between the 2-4th May you would be greeted with a whole host of beautiful smells, sights and sounds from the stalls beyond.

Running for four years now, the ever-growing festival sees tens of thousands of visitors take to the lawns for an exciting array of culinary activities and tasty treats.

The festival sees top chefs take to the stage in the cooking theatre, giving their top tips and creating dishes for you to see, try and get inspired. The beautiful fields are right on the seafront and the perfect location for a day out in Brighton. Stalls line the area from a number of local businesses and Chefs including the Vintage Tea company and Brighton’s Ginger Pig.

There are a whole number of events and activities which you can sign up to and enjoy if you fancy something more than wandering round and tasting all the delicious samples. These activities included various talks by Top Chefs such as the Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite, the winner of MasterChef:the Professionals 2013 Steven Edwards, Richard Kirkwood from The Bell, Michael Bremmer from 64 Degrees and top TV Chef Manju Malhi. They all cooked their dishes live in the chef’s theatre and explained how you can recreate the dish in your own kitchen, (and even allowed you to have a sneaky taste.)

As well as watching demonstrations, you could also partake in beer tasting and learn from the experts about the different ale’s and how they are made- a definitely must-watch (you do leave a little more fuzzy-headed than when you went in however!) Top restaurants served up their delicious offerings and there was plenty of seating to sit back, relax and relish in your surroundings. Amongst these was Dermot O’Leary’s restaurant Fishy Fishy- a great treat!
