A nod towards balmy Caribbean evenings spent reclining languidly under the sun, Coppa Club is offering a tropical dining experience on the Thames…
Coppa Club’s seven cabana’s intertwined in roses and wisteria are decked out with wicker armchairs, candles and cushions, crafting the ideal spot for date nights and after-work drinks.
An understated colour palette of greys, peaches and turquoises hint to tropical climates, whilst fairy lights rain down an elegant glow. For those British nights which are a little chilly, woollen blankets are on hand to be draped over shoulders or wrapped around your knees as you sit back and watch the boats float up and down the Thames.
A pop-up outdoor bar is also on hand to stock up on ‘Britz Sprits’ (Coppa Club’s own take on Aperol Spritz,) cold glasses of prosecco and an array of spirits and juices. The food extends the casual, Caribbean glamour with an array of thoughtful, unfussy dishes, from small plates and snacks to grilled mains, sourdough pizzas and healthy salads. There’s a wide selection of breakfast and brunch dishes and the bar serves carefully-chosen wines, beers and classic cocktails as well as new creations. The richly flavoured dishes are not only artisanal comfort food, but pair beautifully with the selection of wines.
For starters my partner opted for calamari and I chose the Bruschetta. The calamari was fried in a tangy paprika blend and accompanied by a cooling sriracha mayo, soft and delicate to the tongue. The bruschetta was a blend of fat, ripe tomatoes on fresh garlic toast and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil.
For mains we had to try one of their stonebaked pizzas and my partners Coppa Club hot – a mix of spicy salami, Nduja, chilli, tomato & mozzarella – was no disappointment. Crispy to the edges and packed with a gooey cheese and plenty of spice, it was delicious and filling, without being stodgy.
My cornfed chicken was drizzled in lemony rosemary juices and accompanied with a house coleslaw and a side of skinny fries. Priced at under £13 each, both courses were good value for money and portion sizes were more than adequate.
For dessert it didn’t take long to choose the flourless chocolate and almond cake, a rich, sumptuous cake accompanied by an orangey creme fraiche. Delicious and full of flavour it was the ideal finisher for the evening.
My partner’s sticky toffee pudding (a classic British favourite) also went down well, with crushed honeycomb and toffee sauce on top and a side of vanilla ice cream.
The location exudes a distinct beachy vibe reminiscent of carefree summers – a whole world away from the bustling streets of the city. It is the ideal location to head with your other half to while away the hours.
The Coppa Club cabanas can be reserved for private use for 8-10 people, with two ready for smaller groups at 2-6. Two of the cabanas will also be reserved for walk-ins only. Book your cabana here.
