EatFirst – the healthy takeaway service taking over the nation

Date:

EatFirst prove a takeaway or ready meal doesn’t need to be unhealthy to be convenient…

A takeaway or ready meal used to be a real indulgence. A fat, gooey pizza dripping in cheese, fish and chips soaked in salt and vinegar, a Chinese loaded with oil and unhealthy sauces. But with healthy eating taking the forefront now, people have been wondering of a takeaway that combines convenience with health. Just because you don’t necessarily want the hassle of cooking, shouldn’t mean you have to pile on the pounds. And that is where EatFirst comes in.

What it is

EatFirst was started in 2014 by Head Chef Benn Hodges with a mission to create the world’s finest ready meals. Originally serving the hungry and time-poor foodies of London, it expanded to nationwide deliveries in 2017, serving all over the UK. Fast forward to 2018 and it has launched into retail, with Ocado offering their ‘Taste of Asia’ range.

Each meal from EatFirst are healthy, small-batch and sustainable using no artificial ingredients and packaged in eco-friendly compostable packaging. They offer same day delivery in Central London, Nationwide next day delivery, next day delivery for business and are also available in selected retailers.

What they offer

The EatFirst menus are also ever changing. There are a wide range of mouthwatering meals and drinks to choose from and they are delivered pre-cooked and ready to be popped in a microwave for just a few minutes. At the moment some of the dishes include Spicy Flat Iron Steak, Miso Glazed Salmon, Grilled Baby Chicken, Teriyaki Tofu and Vegetable Udon Noodles. Once you select your location on the website (London or nationwide) they will give you a choice of the options available for next day delivery.

The verdict

When we tried EatFirst we were impressed with the ease of it all. We didn’t quite realise just how simple it was to get food that was convenient, delicious and also good for you. It changed our preconception that to have a takeaway it has to be unhealthy. These meals are perfect if you have a busy day and want to come home to a yummy yet nutritious dinner without slogging over the cooker for hours.
