Virgin Voyages takes music on board up a notch with a record shop and karaoke lounge

Virgin Voyages cranks up the volume on board with curated sonic identity, onboard record shop and a karaoke lounge…

Virgin Voyages – the cruise liner aiming to totally rewrite the cruising rule book is further adding to its exciting roster of onboard entertainment and activities with an exciting music experience. The Scarlet Lady – set for its inaugural sail in 2020 – will be equipped with an onboard record shop called Voyage Vinyl, The Groupie, a private karaoke and gaming lounge, and perfectly curated music and performances by up-and-coming artists as well as music trendsetters for Virgin Voyages’ Sailors to enjoy.

The Virgin Voyages residency program will feature performances by world-class talent on board, at in-port destinations and at their own private Beach Club in Bimini where Mark Ronson has already committed to four performances. Demand for this music residency has been so much that the star-studded music lineup has expanded to include multi-platinum chart-topping artist,  DJ, producer/ remixer,  MK (Marc Kinchen), who has committed to one performance in 2020. The Grammy-nominated electronic music duo Sofi Tukker, known for their smash-hit Best Friend, will also join the Virgin Voyages residency program.

Virgin Voyages is also tapping into the brand’s deep-rooted music history, with their sonic identity coming to board on the Scarlet Lady. Each space on the ship will have a unique energy that has been thoughtfully developed by industry tastemakers and brought to life by the hottest talent. They will have a home in electronic music, but also incorporate all other music genres, meaning timeless classics from varying genres will be artfully blended with new and rising artists. There will be calming sounds at appropriate times, rare disco tracks and funky 80’s sounds – there will be a sound for everyone.

The Groupie is a great new space to let your music love loose. It is a bookable karaoke, gaming and movie lounge designed by Roman Coppola. It is designed as a modernist take on a Japanese-style karaoke room for you to enjoy singing to your favourite tunes with friends old and new.
