Bōkan 37 Brunch – Unmissable views, food and cocktails

Date:

Canary Wharf’s sky-high dining destination is one you won’t forget in a hurry. Here is our review of the Bōkan 37 brunch…

Canary Wharf is an area synonymous with the banking district, with many high rise buildings, chain restaurants and cafes and the constant air that time is running on fast forward. Which is why Bōkan 37 brunch is a real reprieve. Across the river from iconic landmarks such as the Shard and the London Eye, you’re given the viewpoint advantage that instead of being inside these buildings you have a front-row seat for them – and it truly is spectacular. Bōkan 37, as its name suggests, is situated on the 37th floor inside the Novotel. Hop in the elevator and be whisked up to a chilled oasis – a world away from the formal hustle and bustle on the streets below.

Bokan 37 Brunch Review

The bar and restaurant is thoughtfully decorated, with rustic Scandi and subtle industrial vibes. It feels cosy yet undeniably stylish, with plush sofas and chairs to park yourself on with a cocktail in the bar. Restaurant tables face floor to ceiling glass windows with an unparalleled view of London’s skyline. Service in Bōkan 37 is slick, with the waiting staff serving both quickly and with a smile – a combination that can be hard to find. They are clued up on the menu and ensure to check for any dietary requirements when you sit down. The Bōkan 37 brunch is priced at £37 per person for three courses and you can add bottomless prosecco for £15 extra. Considering a glass on its own is £9.50 a pop, it’s well worth it if you’re looking for more of a boozy afternoon.

Bōkan 37 Brunch Review One of the best things about the Bōkan 37 brunch is that it includes a proper menu – you don’t feel you’re paying a premium for a slice of avocado on toast. There are three choices for each course and they cater for all dietary requirements. Starters include the likes of pumpkin soup with Josper grilled radicchio &  feta cheese or cured Scottish salmon with carrot & passion berry and baby carrot. Mains feature a delicious slow-cooked beef with mash potato and a miso sauce, Poached line cod with orange puree and roasted cauliflower or a wild mushroom risotto with watercress emulsion and ragstone cheese. Desserts include a delicious cheese board from Paxton & Whitfield, a Carabe chocolate mousse and a Pear in Syrup.

Visually, each course is beautifully presented and just as delicious to eat. The care and precision which has been put into each dish is evident throughout, with the flavours, colours and textures complimenting eachother faultlessly.

Once you’ve finished dining, order a cocktail from the menu and either head to the bar or if the weather is nice, to the outside rooftop terrace. From up here you can get some great photos of the views without the reflective glare of the windows. With the sun beating down on you and the whole of London at your feet, you truly feel on top of the world.
