Florida is the perfect destination to visit all year round and is packed with things to do that vary from state to state. Here are our recommendations for where to go on a Florida road trip…
Florida is the southeasternmost US state and is known for its changing landscapes. From alligator mangroves to the metropolis of Miami and long stretches of white sandy beaches, it’s a state with something for everyone. This is why you should consider a road trip from one end to the other to experience all this great state has to offer. Here are our top ideas of where to go on a Florida road trip…
Orlando
Start your road trip in Orlando where you can stay at one of our favourite Hotels The Loews Sapphire Falls Resort Miami. Enjoy cocktails poolside and early access to Universal Studios. In Orlando you could also go for a hot air balloon ride, Discovery Cove in the US, visit the Outlets and experience the other theme parks in the area.
Fort Lauderdale
Make your second stop on your road trip Fort Lauderdale. A city with something for everyone, from beautiful dinner spots to museums, bottomless brunches, shopping and everything in-between it’s well worth a visit. Head to the Flamingo Gardens, Downtown Hollywood art mural project and get creative at the Hot Glass workshop. If you have time go to the Wreck Bar for a special mermaid themed brunch!
Palm Beach
Palm Beach should be the third destination on your list. Known for its beautiful beach and watersports scene, ensure you go paddleboarding, scuba diving or snorkelling. Shop till you drop at Palm Beach outlets and get a taste of culture at the Henry Flagler Museum or the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.
Miami
Miami needs to be your penultimate stop on your Florida road trip and is a fantastic location to visit. We recommend you stay in South Beach which is packed with things to do and see. Take yourself along the white sandy beaches for a sunbathe, swim in the sea, or go on a boat trip around the fantastic coastline. Eat at some of the city’s delicious restaurants and bars and get your art fix at Wynwood Walls.
Florida Keys
The Florida Keys is the most southern spot on your Florida road trip and are a string of tropical islands stretching about 120 miles. Enjoy a range of water activities such as diving and swimming with dolphins as well as making the most of the stunning beaches. Visit Mallory Square in Old Town Key West to experience its nightly sunset celebration where you can see performances such as tightrope walkers and fire jugglers. The Key West butterfly and nature conservatory is worth a visit, as is the Turtle Hospital where you can learn of the process of rehabilitating sea turtles.
