Seggiano is all you need for an unforgettable foodie feast this Christmas

Date:

As the festive season rolls around, we take a look at artisan food company Segganio’s mouthwatering Christmas collection…

I’ve never really been consistent with Christmas. Some years I’m Mrs. Christmas herself; tree decorated, house decked, menu planned and turkey bought weeks in advance. Other times I’m still in pyjamas around midday on Christmas Day.

Despite this one thing that I’ve remained consistent about at Christmas is buying, eating and gifting of panettone. I acquire the very first as early as October and keep going through November. It culminates on Christmas Day when I gift said panettone to my favourite people. It’s love and favouritism expressed through panettone.

Whilst all these years I’ve resorted to supermarket varieties (albeit premium), this year I struck gold when I discovered the Italian artisan food company Seggiano. The company which has been in the business of sourcing only the best, directly from artisan producers in Italy for 25 years, has launched a range of Christmas panettone that is unrivalled.

The impressive Seggiano Christmas Collection

Seggiano Christmas

Their Classic Panettone (£13.95 for 500g) is baked in small batches and hung using the traditional method for the festive season. It’s crafted by a master baker in Brescia, who has been making the dolci for over forty years. This artisan panettone is naturally leavened and the recipe includes organic eggs, local acacia honey and candied citrus peel.

The Chestnut Panettone (£15.45 for 500g) is a sourdough panettone naturally leavened with a 40-year-old mother yeast which adds an incredible depth of flavour to it. Skilful master baker Beniamino’s guarantees a deliciously moist cake, made with organic free range eggs, local acacia honey and rich marrons glacés (candied chestnuts). Buy it online perfectly gift-wrapped for Christmas.

Seggiano’s Chocolate Panettone (£16.45 for 500g) is a decadent chocolate panettone from the Lombardy region made with only the finest organic eggs, butter and chunks of chocolate. The dough is fragrantly light and deliciously rich. It is the only accompaniment anyone could ever need with great coffee.

The utterly delightful Limoncello Panettone (£16.45 for 500g) evokes flavours of the Sorrento lemons which are used to produce the limoncello liqueur used in this panettone. It is baked by Seggiano’s own expert baker Beniamino at his Lake Garda bakery. If you opt for this, you are advised to buy at least two; one for eating and another for making a delicious Christmas Day limon panettone trifle.

Bonci Panbriacone (£25.15 for 750g or £18.40 for 450g) has been sourced from the renowned Bonci pasticceria. This ‘drunk cake’ panettone doused in sweet wine is an exceptional treat for anyone unwrapping it. You will most certainly smell the the hills of Tuscany. Gift it to friends and family and they’re sure to love you throughout the year.

Choose Vin Santo Individual Panettone (£7.65 for 120g) for grown up stocking fillers. These individually packed panettone, soaked in sweet DOC Vin Santo del Chianti, are a wickedly delicious treat and comes in Classic or Chocolate flavour. Alternatively, do as the Italians do and serve with a thimble of Vin Santo on the side.
