2026 Travel Hacks: How To Get More For Your Money When Booking a Holiday This Year

The time we’re living in feels a little bitter-sweet. We’re fortunate in the fact travel is more accesible than ever, finding destinations and inspiration is just a click or swipe away, and our social media feeds are constantly flooded with sun-drenched shores, snow-topped mountains and sunset photos. There are more options for accommodation and record numbers of flights leaving the UK. But we’re also in a cost of living crisis; meaning for many, going away is no longer a given, but a carefully weighed decision that comes with compromises, shorter stays, delayed plans, or the need to rethink what a holiday really looks like in today’s climate.

We spoke to Cat Jordan, Communications Director at Travelzoo to help us put together some 2026 travel hacks that can help you to get more for your money when booking a holiday this year. From city breaks to coastal getaways, backpacking, to all-inclusives, these tips can help no matter what break you’re looking for in 2026.

2026 Travel Hacks To Make Your Money Go Further

Sign up to deals websites

Consider signing up to deals websites such as Travelzoo who do all of the hard work for the consumer. They shop around for the best deals and often have member exclusive perks which aren’t available anywhere else.

Consider all-inclusive holidays

If you are able to budget in advance, then by the time you get to your holiday you’ve already paid for the food! If you go all-inclusive you know you don’t need to budget for too much whilst there. Money spent up front creates less pressure on money you may need to spend whilst on holiday. You still have the flexibility to explore the local area and dine out if you wish, but there isn’t the same need to pay for food and drink every day, three times a day.

Switch your days around

Travel Guide to Porto Portugal

Switching your days around can make a real difference. If you’re going on a city break, consider staying a Sunday through to Thursday night instead of Saturday. This bring the price right down and offers the best possible chance for an upgrade too!

Be open to ideas

If you are not dead set on one destination then shop around for deals available to similar destinations. There are many undiscovered beaches in Bulgaria or Turkey. And less crowds to boot.

Book early

Benefit from early booking offers and incentives that are designed to pique interest. If you are able and happy to plan ahead, then it pays to.

Be flexible

No1 Lounge Gatwick North Terminal

If you aren’t wedded to specific dates or specific airports it is easier to find the best deals. You might find that by switching to London City airport instead of London Gatwick for example, flights are over £100 cheaper, if not more.

Don’t be afraid to try something new

Mauritius travel

Many of the traditional holiday destinations come with higher price tags as there is more demand for these trips.  You can find some great holiday bargains if you try something new, particularly if an operator has just added a new destination to their programme!

Consider a cruise

A cruise is a fantastic all-inclusive way to see more than one amazing destination with built-in food and drink. There are so many new ships now that you can find bargains galore. There’s no feeling quite like going to bed in one destination and waking up just as you’re pulling into a new port, it’s magical!

These are just a few 2026 travel hacks that should help you save some money on your holidays this year. Sometimes the best moments come from the unexpected, so even if the way you travel looks a little different this year, embrace the change, take plenty of photos and you never know what will come your way.
