Heritage Dulwich

While we might not be able to dine out as we are used to, that is not putting a dampener on Heritage Dulwich, an Indian fine-dining concept that is waiting to open its doors on West Dulwich’s Rosendale Road. Instead, they are launching a little differently, with a new takeaway service.

Heritage Home Dining has been created to put a contemporary spin on traditionally grounded recipes, bringing a touch of nostalgia and innovation. It is giving you the chance to experiment with ingredients and foods from lesser-known Indian regions and communities.

Heritage Home Dining is available to order for delivery right to your door and is the brainchild of Executive Chef Dayashankar Sharma. Sharma has three decades worth of experience in the culinary world and a lot of it was spent in Tamarind and Zaika – two Michelin-starred Indian kitchens.

The menu is packed full of interesting flavour combinations and vibrant indegredients, paying homage to recipes passed through generations, while also adding a contemporary twist.

The dedicated at home menu is perfectly packaged for two and there is a choice of two set dining sharing boxes. The classic Heritage Rajputana (£42 for two) features signature dishes due to appear on the restaurant menu including Mysore Bonda, Murge Makhani, Kasmiri Lamb, Masala Aloo and Dal Makhani.

Vegetarian and vegan diners are well catered for with dedicated at home menus for both available (£38 for two), while meat-lovers can indulge in the dedicated Heritage Grill menu (£42 for two), which includes Chicken Malai Tikka and Lucknowi Murgh Kebab alongside a plethora of sides, breads and salads.

For a taste of holiday from home, the luxurious Costal Sack (£45.95) comes straight from the ocean – expect Masala Seabass, Prawn Curry, Grilled Salmon and everything else you need for a feast to remember. Each of the set menus also includes regional breads, rices, chutneys and sides.

Heritage Dulwich restaurant opensFor those who prefer to order à la carte, Heritage Dulwich offers small plates such as Makai & Palak Tikki – sweet corn and spinach cake stuffed with golden raisin – will be available before a choice of kebabs, tikkas, biryanis and main courses such as Kemma Mutter (infused lamb mince with brown onion, tomato and nutmeg) and Murgh Makhani, smoked chicken supreme cooked in a creamy tomato sauce with fenugreek.

There’s also sides, rices and regional Indian breads aplenty – so if you know your Peshawari from your Paratha, you’re in luck!

The dedicated menu will be available to order via the website Tuesday-Sunday, with delivery available within a 2.5 mile radius of the restaurant during lockdown: www.heritagedulwich.co.uk.
