And for those of us who prefer to get really stuck in and cook for ourselves, they are offering hundreds of cooking classes to bring that Relais & Chateaux charm to your very own kitchen. These cookery schools give guests the chance to share in with the passion of Michelin Star chefs and in the Autumn of this year James Martin will open a whole new cookery school at Relais & Châteaux property, Chewton Glen.

Chewton Glen Hotel
Hampshire’s Chewton Glen Hotel is to open a cookery school with chef and TV presenter James Martin in the autumn of 2016. The cookery school will include a dining area and tasting floor and will provide an academy environment for students to develop skills and experience the restaurant and hospitality industry at its best. As well as the dining area, the professional kitchen space will include a charcuterie bar, bakery and patisserie, along with a vegetable garden and sculpture garden. For James, who will create and host classes at Chewton Glen’s new venture, the cookery school marks return to the hotel for the first time since his stint as a pastry chef when he was 20.
Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons
Raymond Blanc is chef-patron of Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire. The award-winning, 32-bedroom country house hotel, which boasts a two-Michelin-starred restaurant, offers a cookery school for both amateurs and professionals. The head of The Raymond Blanc Cookery School is Mark Peregrine, who brings over 30 years of experience to the role. Classes teach the culinary skills, food knowledge and techniques that support Le Manoir’s own cuisine and food philosophy. From half-day introductions to residential programmes, dinner party master classes to children’s courses, there’s something for everyone. In addition to the hands-on learning experience, students benefit from a luxurious break in the enchanting surroundings of the hotel and enjoy a delicious informal lunch in the school.
Northcote Cookery School
Northcote Cookery School is one of the UK’s top culinary schools, offering inspirational cookery courses from the heart of a Michelin star kitchen. The Northcote Cookery School offers a variety of culinary courses, from skills and techniques to entertaining and themed classes with a choice of half days and full days. The courses are delivered by Head Tutor Michael Vanheste, with master classes also available on selected dates from Chef Patron Nigel Haworth, Executive Head Chef Lisa Allen and visiting guest chefs. The Cookery School can accommodate up to eight students and includes a two course lunch and complimentary glass of wine in Northcote’s restaurant.
Lucknam Park Cookery School
Lucknam Park Cookery School offers a range of courses for up to 10 people. Participants will perfect their skills and master new techniques through a variety of innovative courses led by Lucknam Park’s Michelin starred Executive Chef Hywel Jones. The Cookery School is located in a small house on the estate, just a short walk from the hotel. Each full day course is £175 per person (£75 for a half day) which includes coffee and pastries on arrival, lunch, course folder and a cookery school bag.
