If you are yet to hear of A.Andreassen footwear, get ready for the new luxury Scandinavian brand to capture your heart.
Offering elegant slippers and accessories for women and children, what better to treat your loved ones to this festive season? Plus (just for Christmas) they’re offering free shipping on all orders (it’s usually £50+ for UK, £65+ for overseas). The last day to order in time for the big day is the 20th.
We caught up with the talent behind the company Andrea Andreassen to ask her a bit about why she started the brand, her favourite places to visit in London and why A Andreassen is so different from other footwear brands…
Why did you decide to start A Andreassen?
I’ve been in footwear for 10 years and product design for a few more before that, but to launch my own brand has always been the ambition. The time was right, so off I went.
Why is A Andreassen different from other footwear brands?
We offer the quality and comfort you’d expect from luxury handmade shoes but take that and offer it in shoes for home.
We work with an amazing factory and they say our slippers take just as many steps to make as a pair of brogues. There are no compromises on quality. So these are people who want to treat themselves and feel special at home.
What is your favourite piece you’ve designed?
The next release is an update of the Elskling mule with a bit of a rock edge. I’m really looking forward to seeing this come out. It’s the perfect way to brighten up winter evenings and go into the new year with a bit of attitude!
Where do you get the design inspiration from?
Scandinavian craft and things from my childhood always feature in my ideas and I love the old stories. This is where I’m from, but I’m lucky enough to travel quite often for work and it’s true what they say about travel broadening the mind. It’s this that fascinates me – blending the best of the old and the new.
How would you describe your personal style?
I like to keep things simple. I like natural materials, clever little details and designs that last. And you’ll usually find me wearing something green. Of course, sometimes I forget all this and wear the exact opposite!
What has been your proudest moment of your career?
There have been some highlights for Puma with projects like the McQueen and Rihanna collaboration, but I’d like to think the best is yet to come with my own brand. We’ve got some exciting things in the pipeline…
Where would you like to be in ten years time?
More of the same, please. We want to branch out into home wares, accessories as well as other types of footwear and accessories. I want to take the brand into other countries too – Japan in particular. The to-do list is a long one so I think there’s plenty to keep me busy for ten years.
Why would you recommend A Andreassen as a Christmas present?
Anyone who has a friend or loved one who values style and comfort when they’re home, as well as out, should definitely have a look.
What style advice can you give to Seen in the City readers?
Just be yourself. In the end, that’s all you can do.
Where is your favourite place to visit in London?
The pergola on Hampstead Heath is a wonderful place and hard to believe it could be hiding in London. It looks like it should be in a stately home out in the countryside. It’s a favourite with fashion photographers too it seems.
