Incorporating stunning feminine aestheticism intertwined with a whimsical twist, Bora Aksu SS15 started off LFW with a bang.
Crochet, lace and organza are three largely defining pieces in the line of the Turkish designer, creating a lightness and innocence which is further set off with the fluid movement created by the light silk fabrics.
The Bora Aksu SS15 collection is heavily influenced by Queen Victoria’s collection of paper dolls, in particular ballerina Marie Taglioni whom the Queen was in particular awe of. The crochet in pure white tones represents childhood innocence, whereas the knotted techniques recreate the heavy presence of her private demons.
A delectable palette of light colours was the tone of the first half of the show- whites, blues and pinks reaffirmed Aksu’s initial nod to the romanticism trend. However the second half strode into bolder territories, playing host to seductive bodysuits and a colour theme of navy blues, blacks and a deliciously vibrant purple.
Cleverly refined bead embellishments and beautiful strappy black peep toe stilettos paid homage to Aksu’s more daring side, and the fluid movements of the silks and organza saw the designs sweep elegantly down the catwalk. Diamond headdresses and outlandishly chic sunglasses again assisted in adding an edge to innocence.
This was Aksu’s first eyewear collaboration with TD Tom Davies and you could see the thought, care and perfection which had gone into teaming up each accessory which each item of clothing.
Whilst the delectably sheer maxi dresses, playful bodysuits and other whimsical pieces were undoubtedly beautiful, it had to be a high neck maxi dress which truly stole the show. An enchantingly deep purple with cleverly refined bead embellishments, the look was set off with a matching veil and sweeping train in a truly show-stopping abundance of colour, texture and material
Bora Aksu SS15 is a collection fit for the modern day princess.
