So by now we’re sure you have all heard of contouring, non-touring, tan-touring, shaping and baking, but we have something new…
The latest beauty trend to hit the makeup scene is something that was used religiously back in the 1980’s, and it has taken to the beauty world again by storm.
Draping is the current name for this trend, and no it is nothing that involves curtains! It is very similar to contouring. Instead of sculpting your face with a cool toned bronzer to create a natural shadow, you use a variety of dark to light blushers to contour your cheekbones.
Have you ever felt like once you’ve applied your contour then applied your blush over the top, the angles of the contour on your cheekbones don’t look quite right with the pink pop of blush on your cheeks? Well draping solves all of this.
To recreate this look you will need a variety of shades of blusher. One being a deeper tone and one a lighter. Then to tie the look together you will need a dash of highlight. To start with you will need to choose your deeper colour, something that will compliment your skin tone and not be too light or too dark. Take this on a sparse fluffy bush, preferably something like a fan brush as this ensures your not going to put too much colour on at once. Once you have done this you will need to find the hollows of your cheeks and yes, cue sucking your cheeks in and making yourself look like a fish! This is honestly the easiest way to find the hollows of your cheeks even though it does look a tad odd! Gently apply the darkest colour with a light hand to the hollows of your cheek and gradually build up the colour.
Once you have defined your cheekbones with a light dusting of the darkest blush, choose a lighter toned blush which co-ordinates well with the dark. Using the same brush you had used before, with a light hand apply the light blusher above the darker but blend it in to give an almost ombre look to it. Once you have followed all of these steps apply your favorite highlighter and you are good to go!
This beauty trend has been a hit with popular YouTuber’s such as Wayne Goss, even celebs such as Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid have been seen sporting the look. What do you think about this latest trend? Do you think it should have stayed in the 80’s? Or are you glad to see it back?
