If you are on the lookout for a contemporary and relaxed dining atmosphere in the heart of the big city look no further than Heddon Street Kitchen.
Located just off of Regent’s Street and in the heart of the West End, Heddon Street Kitchen offers a stylish space for dinner dates and celebrations with friends.
The heated terrace is a wonderful place to sit and curl up with a date, cocktail in hand and watch the world go by, the contemporary and welcoming space a testament to the restaurant which lies just through the doors. One of Gordon Ramsay’s ventures,Heddon Street Kitchen offers fine service, decor and even finer food. The decor has a bit of a New York feel to it, with exposed piping and unique lighting features offering a real urban feel. Whilst the day offers a more relaxed feel, the evening is certainly a bit more of a place for an occasion. The staff are friendly, well-informed and helpful without being overbearingly so.
Starters range from the traditional soup of the day to spicy tuna tartate or crispy egg soldiers catering for a plethora of tastes and preferences. I chose the marinated sirloin carpaccio which was accompanied with an endive and onion salad and my partner went for the prawn cocktail. The carpaccio was flavoursome and the texture a nice surprise- sometimes carpaccio has a tendency to be a bit slimy but this was far from it. The prawn cocktail was also delicious though there’s only so much one can do with this classic starter.
The menu offers a wide range of main courses and I chose the chicken paillard with a lemon and chorizo butter and a side of chips. I’d never tried Chicken paillard before and after sampling this dish I would say it is well worth a try. The chicken was very tender and the lemon and chorizo giving it a well-received kick.
The pork belly was however the dish of envy for the meal, with my partner even describing it as “the best pork belly I’ve ever had.” Seeing as this is his usual dish of choice, such a compliment really pays testament to just how good the food was.
If you have room for dessert there is a wide range of sweet delicacies to more than satisfy your sweet tooth. The menu offers dishes from a caramelised meyer lemon tart to a box of macarons (a really nice and unusual offering) to a cheese board and whilst we didn’t have one, those we saw being brought out looked delicious. Whilst we were too full to squeeze down a pudding, we opted for a dessert cocktail – The Blue Moon.
I have to say, it is worth coming to Heddon Street Kitchen just for this concoction alone. A mix of Finlandia vodka, Mozart white chocolate & vanilla liqueur, violet, milk and sugar it was the finisher to satisfy that sweet craving on a full stomach.
Heddon Street Kitchen is the ideal destination for a romantic yet not-pretentious meal out with your other half, a dinner with friends or as a mid-shopping lunch break.
