We catch up with Natasha Bowes – talented entrepreneur and the founder of Bio-tiful Dairy Ltd…
It was in the year of 2012 that Natasha Bowes decided to fulfil her dream of making delicious organic cultured milk drinks Kefir and Riazhenka – which she grew up on, available to health-conscious people throughout the UK. These drinks are consumed daily throughout Eastern Europe, Russia and large parts of Asia and are known for being the key recovery food after illnesses and antibiotics.
Kefir is a refreshing and delicious combination drink with a range of gut-friendly bacteria being the richest known in natural foods. Riazhenka is sweet and luxurious and again, good for the gut aswell as the tastebuds. As the Products have been made in Natasha’s natural motherland for many centuries, a significant knowledge base in their production has been accumulated, which she fully drew on, bringing together the best of the centuries-old knowledge from Russia and technology from Britain!
Natasha recently took on the judges of Dragons Den and you can see what happened here.
Find out about her favourite places to visit in London, why she began her business and the best gift she’s ever received…
What made you decide to start up your business?
A desire to move my business life away from the rather impersonal financial world to creating something that would help to make the world (or at least the UK!) a better, healthier place.
When you were a child, what did you want to be growing up?
In the few hours that I had in the day that were free from training in figure skating (from the age of 4), I dreamt of being a palaeontologist. I was absolutely convinced there could not be a more interesting occupation!
What has been your proudest moment?
When one of Bio-tiful Dairy’s first customers – Harrods Foodhall – gave me feedback after the first couple of months of selling our products that they had “lifted the whole of the category” for their foodhall!
One thing I can’t live without…
My jasmine green tea in the morning
Best gift you’ve ever received?
A debenture ticket for a day at Wimbledon – I love tennis.
Where you would like to be this time next year & this time in five years
In a year’s time I would very much like to be in a happier place personally, and in 5 years I would like Bio-tiful Kefir to be in every UK food store!
Your favourite place to visit in London
Tricky to answer, as there are so many places that I enjoy – probably the central parks: St James, Hyde Park, Green Park.
