Welcoming London Fashion Week to its new home of Brewer Street Car Park in Soho, was J JS Lee SS16 Collection
What a treat the designer had in store for us with J JS Lee SS16 collection.
Inspired by hanging street art and the graphic, linear, supportive structure of the ‘open birdcage’ J JS Lee’s collection celebrated freedom, with a plethora of flowing shapes, simple designs and fluid cuts. This nurturing confidence is representative of the designer’s newfound carefree attitude. Further enhancing this energetic approach is the 70s Californian inspired relaxed silhouette, very evident on the catwalk. This featured a brand new oversized, sports infused voluminous shape, juxtaposed with minimalist signature tailoring that is so synonymous with the brand.
A soft colour palette of honey blonde and black , combined with multi-striped pink, salt-water powder blue and parrot green were all synonymous to the seasonal timing, being soft, delicate and easy on the eye.
The J JS Lee woman is a contrasting mix of personalities- a strong professional, with an equally playful relaxed side, revealing her fun, light, carefree inner self. This contrast was cleverly interwoven to numerous pieces, with the elegant structure of classic tailoring married with a dynamic free-spirited approach through billowing racer-low back maxi dresses with a flash of thigh, fluted bell hem shirt dresses and flared culottes.
Classic black shifts layered sporty oversized tunics and sleeveless blazers and elegant trench-coats showed a glimpse into the outerwear of the new season.
Jackie Lee spoke of the new collection “I remember dreaming about what I wanted to do, but not being allowed. This led to her inspiration for the 70s, a time of freedom, exploration and self-discovery.
