Little Kolkata Covent Garden celebrates home cooked Bengali-influenced dishes and delicious cocktails…
Little Kolkata – the supper club brainchild of friends Prabir Chattopadhyay and Biswajit Deb Das is set to open its first permanent restaurant in Covent Garden this September. Two London chefs, Prabir and Biswajit started Little Kolkota from small beginnings – in fact, it started as a supper club from home two years ago after they began experimenting with their native Bengali cuisine when they felt homesick after moving overseas. This soon expanded to hosting up to 30 people in their kilburn flat before evolving into weekly dinner events in London bridge.

The new Little Kolkata Covent Garden restaurant will be celebrated with an honorary supper club at the new Shelton Street site on the 2nd September ahead of its official opening on the 17th. The restaurant is set to be centered round authentic Bengali cuisine and will offer everything guests have come to love about the original sell-out supper clubs, whilst also welcoming a more extensive Calcuttan menu, cocktail list and exclusive themed evenings.
The range of dishes on offer will include sharing plates priced between £5 – £13, speciality dishes and flavoursome side dishes, priced from £2.50 – £5.00. Traditional concepts follow in the dessert menu, such as the Calcutta Mishti Doi (£3.50), a baked sweet yoghurt, and the Cardamom coffee brownie with rose ice-cream (£4.50), which has been inspired by the famous Swiss patisserie in Calcutta, Flury’s.
Cocktails will also hold a contemporary yet classic style. The use of saffron in the Saffron Spritz pays homage to the famous Indian spice and Jasmine Vodka will bring the distinctive and earthy aroma found in Indian flower gardens.
The interior of Little Kolkata Covent Garden is created by French designer Meddhi Larouci and will form a relaxed and comfortable environment where you can head to and enjoy the traditional Bengali-style food for lunch, dinner or after-work cocktails. There will also be a private dining room, which as well as being available for exclusive hire will also offer lively and unique themed evenings for guests to join.
