The world is finally and slowly returning to normality and once again people feel like they can start making plans and socialising without fear. Travel restrictions are falling away, venues are increasing their capacity and people are getting back into their offices. So, after two summers of covid restrictions and lockdown rules, summer 2022 is our chance to make up for all the time we have spent stuck indoors. Here are some ideas for how you can make the most of your summer this year.
Garden parties and barbeques
If you are lucky enough to have a sizable garden, then make use of it. You do not need a reason or an occasion to throw a party, just invite all your friends and neighbours over to celebrate your freedom to do so! It has probably been a while since we all went to a good old-fashioned barbeque so get your grill out, pull the garden furniture out of the shed and stock up on drinks. If you really want to throw a memorable party that will make up for the lack of celebrations then pull out all the stops, get some Ghengis Fireworks for an elaborate display in your back garden, get a bouncy castle for the kids, get some group games like ring toss or volleyball, or hire a chocolate fountain if you do not mind cleaning up the mess!
Book a holiday
The earlier you get your summer holiday booked the better. These days most hotels have a free cancellation policy, so you do not have to worry about losing out on any money if covid does put a halt on your plans. Get away to somewhere new and exciting or just a much-needed break to lie out in the sunshine for a week. Allow yourself a bit more of an indulgence for your 2022 holiday and maybe spend a little more than you usually would because you have to make up for the past two years of being stuck at home! There is no doubt that you will appreciate every second spent on your holiday and you will come home glowing!
See your family
We have all been missing our family and friends over the past couple of years, if you have family that lives far away or falls into the vulnerable category then you probably have not been able to spend much if any time with them recently. Take the time and make the effort to see those you have missed. You may still have to take precautions and wear a mask and keep your sanitiser on hand in order to protect them but a simple visit from a loved one is bound to lift everyone’s spirits.
Be a tourist in your local area
You do not have to travel far to be a tourist, explore the local area or go to all the popular tourist hotspots. How many of those that live in London have never gone on the London Eye or visited Madame Tussauds? Start exploring what your local areas has to offer and you’re sure to discover some old favourites and even some exciting changes in your hometown.
