ME London, situated in the heart of the Strand, celebrates a decade of innovation and individuality with the highly anticipated reopening of its iconic rooftop bar, Radio. Following an extensive £2.5 million refurbishment led by acclaimed international restaurant designer Bernard Caroll, Radio reopens with a fresh luxury lifestyle experience on the coveted 10th floor, offering breathtaking views of London’s skyline.
What to expect from the new-look Radio Rooftop Bar London
A New Era of Design and Sophistication
Caroll’s redesign transforms the space with a blend of classic and contemporary luxury, accented by Eastern-inspired details. The sophisticated yet playful environment features bespoke coral reef wallpaper from Adam Ellis Studio, plush furnishings in natural desert tones, warm oak wood fixtures, marble surfaces, brushed brass finishes, and exotic dried palms.
A stunning back-lit onyx cocktail bar, trilateral in shape, stands as the centerpiece of the 220-seated venue, echoing the hotel’s external structure. Guests can savour an Asian-influenced drinks menu, curated by Senior General Manager Daniel Susko, who brings experience from Annabel’s, Sushi Samba, and Soho House.
What drinks can I expect?
Radio’s extensive drink offerings include premium Japanese spirits, a selection of sake and shochu inspired by Eastern Asia’s bold flavours, and a diverse wine list featuring top international producers and wines from Japan. The bar also honours traditional highball serves and gin/tonics in collaboration with The House of Suntory, utilizing the ‘sonic’ technique to enhance drinks.
Radio’s esteemed mixologists use sous vide technology to elevate cocktail flavours. Signature drinks include Pantheon, a blend of Toki blended whisky, Bénédictine, pressed citrus, and demerara, and Tokyo Rose, a mix of Ukiyo Blossom gin, Lanique Spirit of Rose, lychee, raspberry, watermelon, and pressed lime.
How about the food?
Executive Chef Federico Crisafulli, formerly of the Italian Embassy in Tokyo and Michelin-starred Grand Hotel in Rome, leads the kitchen with a menu of modern Asian dishes with international flair. Signature plates include Maldon oysters with pickled onions, lime, and red yuzu hot sauce; Japanese wagyu A5 sirloin with wasabi and ponzu sauce; chilli squid with shiso and lime; and black cod with citrus miso. Desserts such as Matchamisu, caramelised drunken pineapple, and pavlova with white miso offer a sweet finish. The dining experience is extended with tasting menus, brunch, and lunch/pre-theatre options.
Stunning Views and Atmosphere
Radio’s guests can enjoy the enhanced year-round panoramic vista of London’s skyline, with high and low-level plush seating and a custom-made all-weather structure. Landmark views include St Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye, The Shard, and the Houses of Parliament.
Radio pays homage to its broadcasting heritage, as the site of the first BBC broadcast in 1922, with live music from internationally acclaimed DJs and artists. The venue features cool, deep, and smooth soundtracks during the day and midweek evenings, with uplifting beats on weekends.
