When looking for a seaside city break, Brighton is a must-go destination and if you’re looking for convenient place to stay, look no further than the New Steine.

Nestled in amongst a row of buildings in New Steine square, the Hotel is framed by beautiful red flowers and red exterior lighting playing testament to the chic French Bistro within. The Hotel is small but cosy, warm and inviting. A five minute walk from the Pier and the Brighton eye and just a short walk to the Laines and main shopping centre, the New Steine is an ideal place to stay if you’re looking to stay somewhere central without breaking the bank.

Our room was on the first floor; simple but pleasant, it presented all you could need for a city break. A comfortable bed, contemporary décor and a modern shower room offer the ideal facilities after a tiring day of exploring the sights and seafront. There was no mini bar in our room however you can order room service if you get peckish. We did receive complimentary bottled water, tea and coffee so you’re fully facilitated if you fancy a drink.

Dinner at the New Steine takes place downstairs in the French Bistro- with just over 10 tables it is a small yet intimate affair, offering relaxed dining with a fine menu. Atmospheric lighting, large wall art and flower decorations nod to simple Parisian style, equating to a relaxed evening where you can leave those stresses behind and unwind and relax.

Proprietor Hervé Guyat’s passion for art as well as food and fun really comes to life here. The menu is varied, with a whole myriad of french delicacies. Starters include Assiette de Charcuterie, smoked tartare and Timbale d’Escargots – a real french feast! For main there are a number of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes – the duck confit is well worth a taste, with lentils and lardons it is an ideal main course, not too heavy and just filling enough. For dessert choose between Tiramisu, Crème Brulée or a range of other pastries and sweets (the Crème Brulée was utterly divine!)

Round off with a delicious freshly brewed coffee, wallow in the warm lighting and let the relaxing atmosphere take over.

Overall this Hotel is an ideal base for a busy break away. Whilst the actual facilities offered are limited, you don’t come on a break like this to spend all your time in a Hotel. It does its job at offering a nice and welcoming base for your break and it does it well. Priced under £100 per night for two sharing, you can’t go wrong.
