Whether you’re in the market for a plant-based meal that mirrors the likes of crispy chicken burgers and bacon mac n cheese, or you simply want a delicious meal you can feel good about, Clean Kitchen of Buck Street Market is the cool and fresh vegan hotspot for the summer.
I don’t know how else to put it, Clean Kitchen gets it. The new location in Buck Street Market, Camden is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a casual yet delicious meal, any time of the day. The shop is two stories, incredibly illuminated with large windows and open doors, and has the best playlist running at all times. Clean Kitchen gives you a full view of the bustling life of Buck Street Market. At this venue, you can grab a Turmeric Ginger Shot from the cold case, an Açaí bowl, or loaded fries and feel great about what you’re putting into your body.
And the unique feel-good atmosphere at Clean Kitchen could not be as fantastic as it is, if it were not for the perfect setting provided by the Buck Street Market. This entirely new spot only began 10 days before the pandemic hit, so they have been eager to share their consumer-conscious shopping centre with Camden. This original spot consists of 88 reused shipping containers filled with diverse shops, bars, rooftops, and restaurants; a perfect example of how this market puts sustainability and community at the forefront.
The feel-good vibes at Clean Kitchen match their menu. Everything they prepare is 100% plant-based and whether you are vegan or not, you’re going to want to order from this menu. My favourite location within the restaurant is the upstairs seating, where you pass the fluorescent pink sign and situate yourself at the bar or the velvet green bench. Dress up or dress down, but be prepared to pull your phone out to grab some beautiful shots. The venue is nearly as exciting as the food prepared.
Some of my favourite items that I tried were the loaded fries that had creamy, crunchy toppings and crisp green onions. This is no fry for the faint-hearted, just grab a fork and enjoy. Additionally, the truffle burger was off the charts. You don’t miss meat for a second, rather you taste the rich umami flavour and the tender plant-based patty. If you want something sweeter, opt-in for the açaí bowl that is entirely customizable, but I advise throwing some goji berries on top.
The coffee was made perfectly. I was shocked by how well my cappuccino held its foam, considering how difficult oat milk and other plant-based milks can be with frothing. It was not a problem at Clean Kitchen.
When you’re planning your trip to dine with the lovely crew at Clean Kitchen, don’t forget to check out the niche shops like Everest Dog Chew, La Marketa, and the entirely pink rooftop bar at Buck Street Market.
Drop into Camden town and expect to be charmed at Clean Kitchen, open every day from 8 am to 10 pm.
