We catch up with Rhia Robinson, a name to watch…
Rhia has recently completedh her degree in Regent’s University and is creative and abstract with her designs…
Tell us a bit about your final collection:
My collection is a literally a collage of myself. It is a combination of different themes and fabrics from faux fur to plastic and bubble wrap its just not serious exactly like me. My aesthetics have been all athlete leisurewear, which is huge trend right now. I love to feel comfortable so comfort was a huge objective. The oversized silhouettes and comfortable fabrics such as faux fur, fleece and jersey added to comfy vibe. Bubble wrap came from the idea of being submerge in water, which incorporates religious aspect (re-birth), which is significant to me. Also inspired by music video from artist SZA, Babylon were she is being submerged in water which I find cool and relatable because I to feel the most at peace when I am in water.
How would you describe your style?
My style could be described as laid back casual. My day-to-day uniform would involve oversized jumper with leggings and trainers and a rucksack, which now a days is quite cool!
Who’s your fashion icon and why?
Haven’t really got a fashion Icon but adore designers such as Yohji Yamamoto and Hussein Chalayan. Yohji Yamamoto for he’s sporty aesthetic and Hussein Chalayan for he’s conceptual ideas which I just mind blowing. Also Style inspiration are from artist like Abra who which I love her music (I chose her song for the fashion show) Music has a massive influence on me and I am really into neo soul which is relatively new artist like Abra, Nao, Sza and Willow Smith. There styles are very laidback like me.
Where would you like to be in five years?
In a job that I love doing, that is really important to me that could be designing for huge label or marketing for company still have not decided yet.
Where is your favourite place in London?
