Jet, Set, Go: Spacecore Becomes Popular Interior Design Trend for 2025

Spacecore is the latest interior design trend sweeping the nation. What was initially considered to be on the ‘hipster’ end of the spectrum, spacecore has well and truly infiltrated the mainstream. But, what is it, and how can you achieve it without it becoming gimmicky? Let’s find out.

What is Spacecore?

Spacecore interior trend

Put simply, spacecore – otherwise known as astrocore or cosmiccore – uses the visuals and icons of outer space to create a modern aesthetic with its roots clearly leading back to retro and retro-futuristic influences.

The allure of the spacecore aesthetic can be seen in everything from fashion to popular online casino games. For example, Hypernova Megaways is set amidst the dark abyss of space, lit by clashing cosmic clouds of blue and orange that resemble the blasts of stellar explosions. The sky is also littered with twinkling constellations and the odd shooting star, adding depth and natural rhythm to the aesthetic.

This play upon the pitch black sky and bursts of vibrant colours can also be seen in spacecore nail trends. Neon colours, glow-in-the-dark paints, iridescent cat eye, and glitter laid upon a glossy dark background are key elements of the spacecore aesthetic, along with bold, simplistic graphic icons of suns, moons, and stars. In fact, the ‘galaxy nails’ trend became so viral that Byrdie named it one of the top nail trends of last year.

As you can imagine, it is no surprise that spacecore has also invaded the world of interior design with the ‘galaxy room’ trend. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the simplest ways to bring a touch of spacecore into your room, without compromising on minimalist class.

Be Deliberate in Your Colour Palette

As you’ll probably have seen splashed over the front pages of magazines like Vogue, art deco earthy colours are super in for this year. And, despite its popularity over the past few years as part of the minimalist resurgence, all-white interiors are well and truly out, and people focus more on their homes having more character and personality, reflecting their individual vibe.

With this in mind, there’s a sharp shift towards contrasting colours and incoordination, reflecting the natural state of the cosmos. That said, you don’t have to throw everything at the walls! There still should be a sense of cohesion.

This means getting creative, but be deliberate and considerate in your colour choices. Start with a neutral base like black or navy, drawing from the night sky. Then, add accents in metallics, bright pops of colours, and watercolour or tie-dye prints.

Experiment With Lighting

Of course, one of the key beauties of the night sky is the light. From the soft glow of the moon to the twinkling constellations, and the colours of phenomena like the Northern Lights.

Backlight your cabinets with colour-changing LED strip lights for a simple pop of colour, or string a web of fairy lights over the ceiling for a subtle yet complex lighting system that mimics the stars.

For those looking for a bit more pizazz, you can also consider investing in a galaxy projector. When positioned properly, this device can recreate the skies of outer space on your ceiling, allowing you to stargaze without stepping foot outside.

And there you have it – just a few simple ways to bring in elements of the spacecore aesthetic to your interior design, without compromising on relative simplicity and elegance.
